He shoots.. he misses.. he scores

So it's OK to cheat for money as long as the payout comes from a website..

Comically inept

Plus... mmmm.. wonder who these mysterious players play for.. if only I could work it out from this snippet

The Swiss trial involved five Challenge League matches played in 2009: FC Gossau - FC Locarno (0-4), FC Servette - FC Gossau (4-0); FC Lugano - FC Gossau (7-0), and FC Gossau - FC Vaduz (1-4).

Well, it does say in the report they played for Gossau.

However, comically inept, as you say. Compare that with the Pakistani cricketers who were convicted for just bowling a couple of No-balls, which probably had no influence on the end result.

It`s not the integrity of sporting results that they are being convicted for, its the deception to gain financial gains from knowing the result and betting on it. In America fixing includes asking the basketball players to win but not by so much (shaving points) so they can still win but as the games are all betting based on start people who backed the other team win.

Personally (as someone who used to like a punt) I would never bet on something as lowly as Swiss Football, or the result of one ball in international cricket, or a horse race with a paltry winning prize. They are all open to making more money by fixing than winning.

I am not sure gaol time was right for the Pakistani`s either though. Very tough sentence.

If this stops bookmakers taking money on Swiss football all the better.
