I do not agree. When I lived abroad I had a visa or permit of some sort. I never tried to become a national or citizen of another country.

What I am against is a certain number of people who are not a national or citizen of a country being able to become nationals or citizens of said country.
So you won't let your wife apply for Swiss citizenship if she wants to?

Ah, so only the "different" people need to be kept out?
apart from Australians, of course. He forgot them or they're the "Austrians" he's referring to.

As I have already said - I am against the dilution of culture
But you admit that you don't understand any of the national languages well enough to read the political literature of Switzerland?

you married an Australian. Talk about diluting culture!

What I am against is a certain number of people who are not a national or citizen of a country being able to become nationals or citizens of said country. And this is not just about Switzerland... I have had this view almost everywhere I went. I believe that all the bureaucratic and financial resource that is used for immigration would be better used in resolving the issues which cause people to have to flee the place which is their home!
Immigration is not the same as naturalisation.
Are you against guest workers contributing to their chosen country of residence, immigrants who decide to settle, integrate and eventually naturalise, or asylum seekers who are unable to remain in their own country for fear of persecution or even death?

I'm interested to hear what countries you believe have been culturally diluted, and how. The and how part especially.

Rubbish, name one disppearing aspect of culture you deem worth keeping that is disappearing.

We would have a set of laws ready. Seems that people just don't want them.

She is not an asylum seeker, nor is she coming to live in Switzerland for any other reason than to be with her family - which is a very Swiss thing!

(Of course she likes it here too ... )

Aaaaaaaah, so that's how one make the difference between who is diluting the culture and who isn't.

Sometimes, like now, I'm ashamed to be Swiss (but at least I master 3 out of the 4 national languages).

but she's still an immigrant from the other side of the world.

Your manifesto is against this:
Quote:
- Switzerland for Swiss people (primarily)
- Low immigration limits (incl. low asylum seeker immigration)
You're actually contributing to immigration. Shame on you!

Re: Which Swiss Party is Right for me?

Ok, according to my calculations based solely on the Swiss Federal statistics, the percent of immigrants in Switzerland (not including French, German, Austrian and Italian) stands at 12.074%, or 960'500 population out of a total of 7'954'700.

That is acceptable to me and I would be for maintaining such a percentage, but not going over it. I am not saying "no immigrants", but I am definitely not for "let them come in as thy please" either. I would say that 10-15% immigrants in Switzerland is sufficient.

To be honest, with some of the Aussies I know, it could be true. But more often than not, it's heterosis at play......even if some women are hairier than others.

Re: Which Swiss Party is Right for me?

a) why don't you count the French and so on?!?

b) we are not letting them come as they please, as you say. We have work visas and so on, and asylum seekers must correspond to a pretty restrictive list of 'problematic situations' preventing them to go back to their home countries to be allowed to stay here.
