Landing uphill usually does the trick

Your google skills never cease to amaze me.

I am somehow with plenty of organisations. Here are a few registrations for you to google:

NL851D.
HBRDF.
HBUVB.

Actually none but eventually a CJ2 and a CJ4 operated by Breitling flight ops might move there depending on how accomodating or not Grenchen are.
Registration HB-UVB Hersteller DORNIER-FLUGZEUGWERKE (DOFLUG ALTENRHEIN) Lfz.-Muster/Typ BÜ 131 APM Marketingbezeichnung Jungmann Certification Basis BVF 1936 Airworthiness Category Normal, Aerobatic Zuordnung NON-EASA Aircraft Address 4929267 (dec)

Often saw HB-UVB in places like Speck-Fehraltorf, Lachen and Birrfeld.

-------------------

HB-RDF --- is this the one you at times can see from the resto-space just off the highway ?

---

NL851D, a very nice P-51 Mustang. When seeing the photo I thought I had seen it somewhere some time, but when looking through the places it was photographed I realized that the one in my mind must have been another one. There often were P-51 at various airshows all over Europe

Maybe I should introduce Wolli to you Shorrick, he was one of the founding gurus and editors of JP Airline Fleets before it was purchased by Reed International (Flight magazine) a couple of years ago.
Aha. So this is why he thinks two Swissair pilots converting to Zürisee steamer captains is indicative of a trend in the industry.

This of course opens questions
A) is Breitling still Grenchen and La Chaux-de-Fonds based ?
Sofar yes.

Quote:
B) are there increasing restrictions at Grenchen Apt ?
Nightflying and fire services support. Negotiations ongoing.

Quote:
C) isn't Payerne a bit far away from either base ?
Base <> where you fly your passengers out of.

Quote:
Sure, Payerne is the only airport in Switzerland with vast space reserves. So that if recent developments signal a development towards a "Schweiz ohne Armee" there may be a great future for "Lausanne-Payerne-Bern Int'l Airport" ahead in spite of the fact that the place is a bit "in the prairies"
It's getting there. Boschung moves there this year.

In a related development, Mr. Schneider offers his (Assassin - bold mine... ) L-39 team to Switzerland, agreeing in advance to have them repainted in swiss colors and be flown by military pilots in replacement of the Patrouille Suisse

Your explanation about Grenchen gives the impression that they in regard to nightflying may face opposition from the usual "local neighbours" and that they in regard to the fire-services are approaching some limits ??

"Base" above was the wrong expression, I meant company base and not operational base. And yes the thing with the L-39 as Patrouille Suisse would be great

In case of the Red Arrows the critical point is the financing of the flight operations, while it here is rather a lack of suitable airplanes.

It at present looks as if one or the other solution to keep the Patrouille Suisse operational will be found. Just as in case of the Saab Gripen, Ueli Maurer organised support by provoking people

More fun and games from Ueli Maurer's VBS department; this time the Swiss Air Force's jet aerobatic team, the Patrouille Suisse, face the ax after the 2016 airshow season.

Patrouille Suisse to disband

With the retirement of the Northrop F-5E/F Tiger fleet, there are neither enough Hornets, pilots nor resources to continue with the jet aerial display team according to the defense minister. Leased Gripen jets from Saab in Sweden may enter Air Force service before newly manufactured Gripen E/F models are delivered from 2020 onwards.

The Patrouille Suisse (PS) was formed in 1964 and will hopefully celebrate 50 accident free years of display flying in 2014, which is also the 100th Anniversary of the Swiss Air Force.

On a personal note, I know a bunch of these guys and their leader and find it not only a poor call for the Air Force, but it would be a major loss for Switzerland if this inspirational team were forced to disband. What would major events in Switzerland be without the red and white jets thundering through the skies proudly flying the Swiss flag? Although the PC7 Team Propeller Team is unaffected by the PS decision, their display is entirely different to those of the jets.
Maybe not http://worldradio.ch/wrs/news/switze...se.shtml?34692

On a more serious note, who cares if they disband Patrouille Suisse. How many of us actually derived some benefits from it?

Yes certainly, there are a few plane aficionados who get a kick from watching Maverick and Goose and the Iceman fly by...but I believe the majority of us can certainly figure out more beneficial ways to make use of the budget.

Bait accepted. Yummy. Any more where that came from ....?

All large organizations worth their weight in bear poop have a budget for marketing and publicity. In the case of the Swiss military, the Patrouille Suisse are their ambassadors, both at home and abroad. Yes, it costs something like CHF 200K every time they put on a display, but as a taxpayer you also deserve to get a bit of your taxes back in the shape of six red and white jets proudly whizzing through the air.

You can't really motivate people to join the Armed Forces or have them vote "yes" to retain the military budget by spending it on yet another hospital wing or refuge center for asylum seekers you know .....

"Benefits" ? 10'000's of people per year enjoyed their aerobatics. I was just one among them at times.

There however is another quite splendid team. the Breitling Jet Team

around in Switzerland. Just as the Super Constellation of the SCFA has both SCFA and Breitling titles, the planes above could be both Breitling and Patrouille Suisse. Details may be complicated but can be ironed out by accountants, pilots, lawyers, engineers and politicians

It may not be easy but possible it should be.
