SNOW SNOW SNOW in the CANTONE DI TICINO

The Canton of Ticino got more snow in recent days than the rest of Switzerland

Snow is not a rarity in Ticino in wintertime but the present thing is clearly exceptional

Sorry - I know you're right; but I was just mimicking, based on past experience.

Re: SNOW SNOW SNOW in the CANTONE DI TICINO

it's a wash-out, 500m above sea level and it's heavy wet crap.

Made the morning traffic interesting but I'd say some routes from Italy were quiet as they pass quit high and were a mess this morning.....

Probably because I made that up, and inserted it into 'his' quotes.

But everytime, it's been heavy snow - or any other horrendous weather - anywhere else in CH, it's always been clear blue skies, warm and sunny in TI ....... apparently.

That's because everything's different in Ticino
You should have learnt that by now, you must have read it enough times.

It is an old wisdom. When there is bad weather coming into Switzerland from west/northwest/north it results in North-Föhn in the Ticino which means sunny and warm weather at least south of Biasca. When the tide turns and wet weather (rain, fog, snow) get into TI from Lombardia, the result is South-Föhn north of the alps with clear and warm weather and wonderful views towards the alps

This is what people in the Innerschweiz knew already in the 1400s and used the time when Lombardy was weak due to internal strife

and conquered slices of the Lombardy (failed to also get Como and Varese)
