| | Masseneinwanderung [Immigration] vote - Facts
This thread will be used as a reference for all the facts and known ramifications affecting those who wish to move to, and remain, in Switzerland as a result of the recent vote. The thread will be a closed thread added to as and when new information becomes available.
Currently the situation is this.
A vote was passed on the 9.2.14 to limit the immigration of persons from the EU by a 50.3% majority.
The current rules regarding the freedom of movement within the EU and Switzerland are expected to remain in place for the next 3 years.
That's all we know at the moment. More when further relevant information becomes available.
Edit: the post below by 11hours has some good background reading for anybody interested.

Good idea! Thanks for that!
I think it might make sense to add some links to further information for the ones who want to read up what is already known by now. What do you think?
I would suggest some of these:

Some good info passed to me by member Rhaetional https://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/bfm...z-eu-efta.html
Under the FAQs, which are only available in French German or italian, is this point which I believe the majority of us would be interested in: | Quote: | | | | Was passiert mit Ausländerinnen und Ausländern, die bereits in der Schweiz leben?
Rough Translation | Quote: | | | | What happens with foreigners that already live in Switzerland?
Foreigners that already live in Switzerland can stay. That means that the already granted residence and settlement permits will continue to be valid. The freedom of movement agreement expessly provides for the continuing of any rights aquired under the agreement, even in the event of possible termination of the agreement (Art. 23 FZA). The new system will only affect foreigners that wish to immigrate into Switzerland after the new legal provisions come into force | | | | | So it looks like good news for those of us already here. (If anybody spots any factual mistakes in my translation then please PM me the corrections)
This may well have been mentioned in one of the other threads, but quite frankly it's difficult, if not impossible, to find anything of relevance in them
Edit: As I read it this only applies to those of us who hold B and C permits - L permits are simply short stay permits.
