| | Amb. Suzi lays an egg! [Ambassador criticises ski lifts in CH]
Not content with destroying the Swiss financial center and turning Americans in Switzerland into second-class citizens, Amb. Suzi has lashed out at skiing and winter sports in Switzerland on her Facebook page. Scrapping any sense of diplomacy, she called Swiss ski lift conditions inefficient and chaotic.
The Blick, trying to protect an important sector of the Swiss economy from Suzi's bitching and moaning, went on the offensive in a prominent article, and asked why she was trying to collect complaints about Switzerland.
Blick:
"Swiss Tourism Director, Jürg Schmid said: "I have responded to the Ambassador and advised her to form a comprehensive view of the organization of Swiss ski areas at the end of the season." Because: "In contrast to the USA, where lift tickets cost up to 50% more, skiing is not an elite sport in Switzerland. Everyone skis here." The conditions in Switzerland and the USA are not comparable, said former downhill world champion and Swiss Ski President Urs Lehmann (45). "At the battle of Morgarten we were indeed successful with our lack of discipline". http://www.blick.ch/news/politik/us-...id3381940.html | The following 8 users would like to thank MennoFloyd for this useful post: | |

Now, to relax a bit, nobody destroyed the Swiss financial sector, as less than 5% depended on the bank-secret. In Switzerland, everybody is within an hour from skiing areas, while average people in the USA are at least 10 hours away, which causes a different perspective. .

Er, Tom.... He said "average". So ymmv from average. ;-)
Although I don't believe that 10 hours is a reasonable estimate. The most densely populated areas of the U.S. are likely closer to skiing areas (north east, west coast).

Amb. Suzi must be wondering whether the sun will rise tomorrow. After suffering a crippling body-blow from Saturday's Blick article, The Local Switzerland tag-teamed and threw Amb. Suzi to the mat today with an explosive article on her shooting off her mouth on Facebook: "US diplomat sparks flap over Swiss ski 'chaos'" http://www.thelocal.ch/20150105/us-a...wiss-ski-chaos
Will Amb. Suzi be repatriating to the US soon?

Nice. My relatives live in places like Shreveport, Marshall, Tyler, Dallas, FtWorth, Austin which all are more than 700 kms away from both the seaside and the next skiing place. Most of them have never seen snow in reality. The son of a cousin, apparently under my (bad ? ) influence took a Job in Aberdeen and when there was the first snow, made, from outside the pub, a phone call to his Mum , Suppose that Aaron is closer to the USA average than a chap of Swiss nationality living in Lugano
and now to your 1 km . California ? hardly. Remains RHODE ISLAND & CONNECTICUT
