Switzerland: Measles hotbed?

Just read on BBC that fans who are to travel to the Euro 2008 are being advised to be vaccinated against measles, as Switzerland and Austria are apparently in the middle of several outbreaks. I hadn't heard this before now - perhaps it's exaggerated, and perhaps it's of more immediate concern to parents and families, but was recently highlighted by the US CDC. Reported in the Telegraph (UK) here

Read the BBC article here too.

Re: Switzerland: Measles hotbed?

In the last week or so, there have been several cases of measles at the University of Lausanne and the neighbouring EPFL (technical university). This week, they have even been holding special vaccination clinics on both campuses in response to these recent cases.

Re: Switzerland: Measles hotbed?

I was seriously ill from having Measles when i was 5 and its very nasty. I can still remember after all these years having the entire inside of my mouth covered in ulcers and being stuck in a darkened room for several weeks so i think regardless of where you live.....get vacinated! To be fair im not sure if this was Measles or German measles but nasty all the same.
