Coca Cola and Denner

http://www.blick.ch/news/wirtschaft/...id3984520.html

Denner found its ways with Coca Cola and concluded a new Agreement, much against the wishes of COOP

As Aproz also produces Pepsi Cola and 7-UP the Migros Group now just one a battle

Highly newsworthy, I expect many expat lives will be deeply affected by this.

If people were simply to stop buying Coca Cola products etc. altogether, then they would save even more money on their grocery bill, not to mention on their medical bills.

It is still a health-hazard whatever it's called.

The same could be said for many sweets and drinks on our shelves. When consumed in moderation and in combination with a good dental regime, like many sweet treats in life, it's hardly a "health hazard".

It is a health-hazard like many other similar drinks.

The acid rots the teeth and weakens the bones.

The chemical caramel contains carcinogens (cancer causing substances).

Excessive artificial sweetener increases appetite and cravings, causing the consumer to eat and drink more and more.

The digested aspartame/artificial sweeteners break down into amino acids, one of which is formaldehyde - a known human carcinogen.

The high-fructose corn syrup is another form of concentrated sugar, known to increase body fat, cholesterol and triglycerides and again increases appetite.

Potassium benzoate preservative already an irritant to eyes and skin, coupled with ascorbic acid in the same drink causes benzene to form - a carcinogen.

Food dyes cause impaired brain function and lack of impulse control.

And it contains water. A highly corrosive substance that will even dissolve metals. Drinking too much can cause death. Inhalation causes many deaths every year worldwide.

Dosage matters!

I was in the aircargo-business and brother was a car-mechanic and truck driver. In spite of our quite different life-styles we both got the same sort of cancer. As I am a disciplined Person I survived but had to make many hurting concessions while brother passed away in 1994 (27th SEP, 8pm). Our common love for Cola Drinks and wines and beers however was NOT a relevant factor, docs told/tell me

Nearly everything in life is a health hazard in some form or another.
Sun causes skin cancer an drinking too much water or eating too many carrots is also dangerous.

The secret is moderation. A can of coke every now and again is not going to be any more dangerous for you than 30 minutes exposure to the sun would be. You just need to be sensible about these things.

I can't stand the stuff in any form personally so I never drink it but that's not in any way due to health concerns.

If you're going to quote things you might want to provide a source otherwise someone will call "bullcrap" on it. :p

As this thread is specific to Swiss-produced Coke, remember (or know) that there's no HFCS at play in soft drinks in Europe, as yet. If you're going to go there, copying and pasting this stuff, at least talk about the products available here.

As the others say - all in moderation.

I have enough information (sources: press and internet), to make a personal choice not to drink Coca Cola and many other of their beverages, wherever they tell you it is produced. I am sure many people worldwide have done the same.
