Non-EU/EFTA Cabaret Dancers Permits scrapped

Just saw this on the FOM website.

Revocation of Art. 34 of the Ordinance on Admission, Residence and Gainful Employment
Work permits for cabaret dancers from non-EU/EFTA states may now be issued only until end-August 2015, with a period of validity up to end-December 2015. From 1 January 2016 on, employment as a cabaret dancer in Switzerland will no longer be possible.

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...et-statut.html

From the information flyer:

The reasons for the repeal of the statue on cabaret dancers are

Inadequate protection of dancers against exploitation;

Susceptibility to human trafficking;

Poor working conditions;

Irregular or no salary payments;

Half the cantons no longer implement the statue.

Re: Non-EU/EFTA Cabaret Dancers Permits scrapped

It could be a big loss to the Swiss 'culture' and 'entertainment' scene, but, thankfully, will have no direct bearing on my permit situation:

What gets me is that out of the 5 reasons, you could probably apply 3 for EU "dancers" as well: poor working conditions, inadequate protection against exploitation and irregular or no salary payments. So why no ban on permits for them too? Upset the guys who use these places? Well, tough luck.

There are no 3-month work permits for EU/EFTA citizens I think

Methinks somebody high up in the Bundesamt got an unsatisafctory "service" from a Ukrainian "dancer" and is now exacting revenge.

Perhaps there should be for this industry given the likelihood of exploitation no matter what your nationality is.

More likely just another reaction to the curb immigration vote. Permits for non-EU au pairs have quietly been dropped too.
