Man pours (allegedly) petrol over himself outside the Bundeshaus in Bern.

Armed police, firefighters and ambulance are at the scene where a man according to reports, has poured petrol over himself.
Report in German..

Re: Man pours (allegedly) petrol over himself outside the Bundeshaus in Bern.

According to the 20 minute report the fire brigade is at hand.

To save a whole lot of mucking about I suggest they douse the man completely in fire extinguishing foam, then take him in to be processed. Would save a load of time and detract from the drama.
I'm sure he has his cause or whatever, but this type of hype is just plain silly and won't do him or his cause any good.

Nip it in the bud now I think, else there will be more to follow.

she did already say everything the article does: weirdo threatens to burn himeself. Only other info in the article is that the guy "speaks a foreign language" and "is gesticulating wildly".

Someone has been sitting next to Bundeshaus with a container full of fuel. He looks like he is going to fire himself. Talking to someone with a phone always.

Can you give the general gist of the story?
A man ( rumoured to be connected to Syrians, no comfirmation on that as yet) has perched himself in front of the entrance to the Parliment building in Bern, threatening to set himself alight after pouring what appears to be petrol in the green canister over himself.
He is constantly referring to his cell phone and in the meantime a police officer is trying to talk him down and give it up.
There have been no evacuations from the building thus far.

Around 8pm yesterday evening the police talked him out of it and took him away somewhere. He was allegedly Syrian. That's all the info they gave on the (local French speaking) radio this morning.

I do not really believe that the man is stupid enough to believe that Germany or Britain are to take him. His action rather was a political demo to draw attention to the plight of the Kurds in Syria and Iraq and Turkey.
