Citizenship [slightly easier C permit] for the rich

Now in Zug they want to allow the rich to get their citizenship without a German test-they can be German illiterate. What these arse holes will do for the rich!

Nothing new here. Money is an official language in Zug.

Doesn't that make more sense than only allowing it to someone they know will not integrate nor contribute to their community?

Is having millions as income and wealth = wish to integrate and contribute?

First of all: c permit, not citizenship
Second: this is the case already for many nationalities. For example, french, italians, dutch already get the permit even when german illiterate

Conclusion: a dumb post

Clearly some of their net worth will be taxed and end up in the community coffer, so of course they will contribute.

When I said "contribute" I meant "add to the community/merge with the people living here". Sorry for not being so clear.

That, one wouldn't know. It depends what they do with their time. But for sure, they will be contributing to the economy, and the infrastructure of their community.

There are lots of multi-millionaires there now, and I'm sure they will find a community and society they will socialise and interact with.

Re: Citizenship for the rich

According to the article, the exemption from the language requirement would be available to residents with a taxable income over 1 mio or taxable wealth over 20 mio.

So, running through a tax calculator for Zug city, an income of 1 mio would mean ca. 285K in tax revenue.

Now I know that bringing in 285K to fund the town, the schools, the Altersheim, the parks, at a time when deficits are looming, is nowhere near as important a contribution to the community as joining the Schildkroteverein. But before y'all get your pitchforks out...

...Remember that of that 285K, 117K would go to the federal government, adding to the kitty that funds projects in your own cantons/Gemeinden.

Re: Citizenship for the rich

OP is clueless, lots of EU citizens don't need to take the test anyway to get a C permit. Bringing in rich people and taxing them here is a huge benefit....stop thinking like a leftist loser.

Re: Citizenship for the rich

The proposal is targeting rich south african and Russian expats not EU/EFTA citizens. The only thing that made me smile is that SVP is strongly supporting the proposal..........
