I'm Swiss, and she's a wann-be.

There are things called mirrors.

In which sense has it been personalised?

Alas, you, in your total ignorance, fail to grasp that there IS NO NATIONAL CRITERIA!

So thus, EVERY TOWN DECIDES THEIR OWN!

God, you are thick as mud!

Love your idiotic trolling, though. Which will be your next incarnation?

Tom

The personalisation is you referring to other people as 'riff-raff' - it would indicate you are talking about this lady in such a way which says a lot about you as a person

As to Swiss citizenship - it is done on the three levels of course....and that is known

It is up to the Swiss to decide how they give citizenship

What I would say though is the outcome is the same 'Swiss citizenship' and their are different rules applied everywhere so the standards applied to get citizenship are not consistent across the country - although the process to get there is

Nothing more, nothing less and it is not always easy to explain to people who don't understand it

As to trolling, well seeing you post on everything, with your own 'humorous' twists then it is difficult to avoid you

And rightly so!

She's riff-raff, I'm not.

There is an inconsistency in the sense that Swiss citizenship is not decided in the same way across all the country and different criteria are applied in different areas........
First and foremost you are a citizen of your community and in accepting you they are traditionally say that they take responsibility for you, should things go wrong and you need to be bailed out. Today the responsibility is more evenly distributed but the concept remains.

Re: annoying-anti-cow-bell-campaigner-denied-swiss-passport

When I lived in the Vaud alps I occasionally enjoyed the sound of cow bells dinging away from my apartment in a chalet building on the mountainside.

One day I realised I had never seen any cows near my home. A while later, I noticed I was only hearing the dinging during high winds.

I finally worked out it was a bell device suspended from my balkony by the neighbours below, who were hardly ever there because for them it was a holiday place. After a few more weeks it got quite annoying. We sorted it out amicably one sunny evening when we were all out on our balkonies.

I'm no fan of vegans, but it does seem a bit off that you would be rejected from citizenship because of your political views. On the other hand, it's probably not just her political views.

Re: annoying-anti-cow-bell-campaigner-denied-swiss-passport

And the noise from the bells are more than damaging for the hearing not to mention the weight of the bells. But these ignorant Swiss in the mountains dont see that. They just think it sounds nice. Some even say the cows are proud to wear them! And who needs the church bells. What would the Swiss say if the muslims got outside with their loudspeaker for prays.

That's not even a hypothetical question; it's already been asked. The answer is, no more minarets.

A minaret is not needed to broadcast prays. An open window would be enough

Why would anyone want to move amongst people they are not welcomed by? Why would anyone want to move to a place they don't like and want to change?

Why do these two questions keep recurring on EF?

As someone living here for such a long time she has the right to voice her opinion. She did not choose to come here. Her parents brought her.

She has obviously proven that she does have that right to voice her opinion in Switzerland. Except it only demonstrated how she hasn't learned how to get along with her neighbors.

No it just proves how these people cannot deal with opinions that are contrary to theirs. And in their small mindedness they get back at her by denying a passport.

I'm not so sure that such a foregone conclusion, as she may have already demonstrated her thickness in other instances.

She didn't chose to come but she chose to stay, which after so many years amounts to the same.

She had also complained about the church bells:
After having lived in the Gemeinde for many years she moved closer to the church. Only then did she start campaigning against them even though she should have known exactly what she would get herself into so either suck it up or avoid the situation beforehand.

She did voice her opinion, just as people generally have the right to. But nowhere does it say that there won't be consequences.

The effects of cow bells have been well researched - they are bad for the health of the cows, and decrease milk production. They also cause an appalling amount of noise pollution. And they serve no purpose, as farmers don't let their cows wander free on the Alps since the advent of portable electric fencing.
And your source would be?

In case you're refering to the ETH study that made headlines a couple years ago:
That's not even worth the paper it's printed on as being based on 19 data sets its scientific value is zero.

Sounds like she was maybe a bit to 'loud' and 'in your face', maybe taking the extreme modern militant, shaming approach to marketing her ideas. Whereas, the Swiss way, would be to calmly collect signatures for a referendum. This sounds more like proper reasoning for the denial
