She spent her first 8 years in Nederland and the last 35 informative years in Switzerland. (See links above)
Doesn't that make her more Swiss than Dutch?
If she had Swiss citizenship I believe the villager neighbours would have simply ignored her behaviour.

On the topic of BELLS: another typical Swiss behavioural and cultural experience: the yodelling club I belong to had their annual General Assembly (a usually boring reading of minutes and account details followed by a brutal exchange of views followed by a hearty meal and copious amount of wine and beer!), when at the end of the evening, I was presented with a bloody enormous cow bell (like the one you see these bells ringers walking in folks festivals) that's been in the choir for decades.
It was apparently a huge honour (especially for a non-Swiss!) to be the "Guardian of the Bell" for 12 months.
Well, imagine at 12.30 a.m. in chucking rain, trying to take the wretched thing out of my car without waking up the whole neighbourhood! They had stuffed egg boxes inside to stop the "tit" (Is it really called like this? I am no "Quasimodo of Notre Dame-expert" on the matter!!) ringing.
Well, of course, they all fell down the moment I got my keys out to open my front door and there I was, competing against the church bell across the road and probably waking up the whole street residents who must have wondered why the church was ringing at 12.40!
WHO SAID LIFE WAS DULL IN SWITZERLAND???
You may now refer to me as "the Master of the Cow Bell"! | The following 12 users would like to thank McTAVGE for this useful post: | 3Wishes, adrianlondon, cannut, chomp, curley, greenmount, Phil_MCR, roegner, Sbrinz, Squeeeez, st2lemans, Urs Max |

Needless to say Mrs McTAVGE was "thrilled" at the prospect of this new "discreet" ornament to our new home (I suspect she's filing divorce papers as I write!) | The following 3 users would like to thank McTAVGE for this useful post:

There were many adjectives in front of "monstrosity" that I shall not repeat here on a public forum! | The following 2 users would like to thank McTAVGE for this useful post:

And she's now officially Swiss.
"A Dutch woman who twice had her Swiss citizenship application refused by her local village council because she complained about cow bells and other animal rights issues has finally received confirmation that she is now officially Swiss.
Nancy Holten announced the news on Tuesday on Twitter, including a letter from Aargau cantonal authorities confirming the decision." https://www.thelocal.ch/20180328/dut...p-nancy-holten |

So my old posts about how much I disliked schabziger will likely be discounted, then?

Also, why did you take the bell out of the car after midnight? Were you that drunk you didn't think realize it was a terrible idea and would not exactly be a quiet adventure? |

It's even crazier than the Beeb tells it. According the Bauernzeitung they even complained about the flies!
Seems they forgot the horseflies.
