World Economic Forum

This year's WEF was on high ... at least for those who take care for public order

World Economic Forum: Swiss soldiers used drugs at Davos

Quote from the article:

"The military police were called in to investigate one unit on Tuesday after suspicions of drug misuse..."

Is there a proper use for cannabis and cocaine when on duty??

Re: World Economic Forum

So yesterday was a lovely sunny afternoon in Lenzerheide , from the balcony I could see a police contol diverting and checking every car going in Davos direction. Funny thing was trucks were waved straight through, even funnier they packed up and went home at 5.00! TIS or just practicing?

So basically they work 150%, have intermittent hot water, food sucks, have diarrhea and other diseases and don't even wanna be there.
And they speak about drug use because it's not safe to drive under the influence but as usual they overwork them which is equally if not more dangerous (everytime an accident happens they talk about that).
I think that for things like the WEF they should use professional security only or professional military. This bad publicity is not even convenient for them.

That’s great. Another reason to have ski slopes free of tourism

Re: World Economic Forum

Jacek

There will not be many Swiss ski slopes if there are not enough people to pay for the maintenance of the slopes.

Davos like most of the world will be hit by finance problems because of Covid.

1) Spengler Cup 26 to 31 December 2020 cancelled
2) WEF mid-late January 2021 cancelled

There are a lot of people in Davos who either take time off their usual job or get it off, to do other work in connection with one or both the above.

I suppose there might be a number of seasonal workers not required this season.

On the plus side might be an opportunity for others in Switzerland to visit Davos on those dates, as suppose there might be offers around.

Keep safe

Re: World Economic Forum

I could see the many black Mercedes limos on the A3 on Saturday and noticed that they all have German plates. Assuming that these are generally services from ZH Airport to Davos, how does that work from a legal point of view? I assume Swiss drivers can't drive the cars but can a foreign limo service work like this in Switzerland?

Re: World Economic Forum

It's been a zoo here since last week, with the air force jets from CH, DE, and AT blasting through, plus assorted classic aircraft and heli sightseeing flights, no doubt for the visitors. The year Trump was there, a Swiss squadron escorted him out past the AT border...no doubt to make sure he was truly gone. We stood on our balcony and waved goodbye.

Hey, with a heli trip from Zurich at only CHF 6000.- to discuss stuff like climate change, who wouldn’t opt for that in preference to a private jet?
At least Putin wasn’t invited for a change.

Loads of these climate-preaching idiots here inside and meanwhile, outside the diesels just keep going round-and-around trying to find parking places which are severely restricted, polluting the air like crazy. It really is a circus full of all types of clowns…

It's a gorgeous day for flying--fierce sun and new snow, so the Swiss are doing sorties in big loops over the AT mountain border, leaving huge circles of contrail in the blue sky.

When multi-millionaires like Kerry talk about carbon reduction and climate emergency it is your carbon reduction and climate emergency he is talking about.
Not his.
