Honesty in Switzerland

I remember some years ago 'a little old lady' left 80k Chf on a tram in Zürich and got it back after it was found by a cleaner. Being fresh from London I was a) convinced that I would never hear the like of it again b) mesmerised by the cleaner's honesty. But no, similar situation, same end result just the other day.

Sometimes it's just nice to hear of the good fortune of others.

Enjoy the weekend!

Re: Honesty in Switzerland

Well, I know some cases in Spain as well. I believe it depends of who find it more than the country. Eventhough, it is more probably that someone in Switzerland would not needed as much as someone in a less worthy country.

You would be surprised. Poor people can be more honest than rich people. Althought I do think Swiss can be very honest and correct in general.

On the other hand check this rich muppet out.

Re: Honesty in Switzerland

Around 20 years ago, I found a wallet in the outskirts of Zürich, stuffed with cash and the usual stuff. After returning it to the owner by post (in English), I received the one of the most amazing and touching letters of my life, and will keep it for eternity. Went something like this (in Swiss German):

"Thank you so much for returning my wallet. It's not so often that this would happen in todays society. I'm 79, and this means a lot to me. I would never have expected this from many Swiss, and you have really changed the way that I think about people. I wish you all the best."

Rooney is with friends or/and his entourage, how likely is somebody earning that much to have a plastic bag tucked under his waist band? Isn't he much more likely to have the equivalent of a wallet put there?

I don't buy these allegations.

They say he emptied the waste bin and used the liner to cart off his goodies. Does seem a bit extreme for someone with that much cash. But perhaps he was raised in a poor family or was just doing it for kicks, who knows?

Re: Honesty in Switzerland

A few years ago I forgot my ipod in the fitness. I went back there and nobody returned it. I was so pissed about the Swiss Honesty that I decided that I would not return things I find. When next winter came along and I got my jackets from Keller I found my ipod

So I got most of the things I lost back

You found you jacket with iPod next winter in the basement?

It has more to do with amnesia than honesty.

Family members lost their phones more than once over 8 years in CH and they always got them back from somebody finding them either on bus or on train.

"Allegedly stacks the items in his arms before putting them in a plastic bag"

So the DM says plastic bag, others say waste bin. Which is it? Can't be both. And that's not even taking into account that the person on the video is impossible to identify as the face is way too blurred.
