| | SVP member of parliament caught driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.92
Just about four times the legal maximum... isn't that the party who wants the police to go tough on everyone who breaks the law? She repeatedly threatened the cops with "do you know who I am? I am a Nationalrat"... tried to call the federal general attorney and in the end called the Bundesrat. Imagine a US senator calling the president cause he was caught driving under influence... http://www.20min.ch/schweiz/news/sto...in-an-11620030 | The following 9 users would like to thank Treverus for this useful post: | |

Of what importance is her political party membership?
I find her DUI not that important. One may draw conclusions on her, but that may be dubious. And a sizeable portion of the population is probably guilty of the same, albeit without having been caught and perhaps with a bit less of alcohol. But still, Glashaus und Steine werfen.
What is relevant imo is that a federal politician tried to use political connections to fend off the consequences of her actions. THAT should be the headline and the reason why her political career is over, completely over.

If she calls Guy Parmelin does it obviously matter wether she is a SVP or an SP Nationalrat. (?)
P.S: The SVP thinks its very important to add the nationality of a criminal to every newspaper article as they find it relevant no matter what. Why not party affiliations?

Whether she called Bundesrat X or Y doesn't matter, what does matter is that she was trying to abuse her top-level political connections.

How much do you have to drink to get to 1.92? Is it easy? I imagine it's not a level of someone who only had one or two unless they were very large glasses.

What conclusions can we make here? The Bundesrat doesn't fancy women with prominent chins or drinking issues.

"do you know who I am? I am a Nationalrat"
Hmmm... A natural result of Stammtischpolitik.

Last year the Head of the UDC here and local politician, was so *issed and under the influence of psychotic drugs that, after driving the 40 km on windy roads to give a speech- he could hardly stand and put a sentence together. Te local cops gently told him they would take him home with his car, after he got in his car and couldn't remember how to start it.
He was never breathilised, nor prosecuted either- as most of the cops around here are probably members of his party- oh, and he was in charge of the Police Dpt.

At last Perrin was so drugged up and so drunk- he was past the argumentative stage and couldn't put two words together. Yes, head of police dpt- they knew he had driven in in that state, and that he got at the wheel to return home.
Nothing, zilch, nada.

Time to mention Nez Rouge. Search for your own region. You can volunteer as a driver or helper or donate to the cause. The idea is to educate people about driving under the influence whilst helping those who haven't quite got the message to get home safely without killing anyone else on the way.

| | | | | And that's one of the huge differences between the U.K. And Switzerland. In England the government has managed to attach stigma to drink driving, it is generally seen as stupid, not cool and dangerous. Here people don't give a toss which is bad news for pedestrians and other road users killed by pissed drivers.

Same as their selfish attitude to smoking.
