Tom | | | | | Yeah, but most Italians living in your area in Ticino are probably somehow tied to Italy and might even speak the language properly...

If memory serves Italy has mandatory military service as well but, again if memory serves, there were ways around it (not visiting the country during a certain age range?).

Officers of the German Wehrmacht carried out Nazi orders to exterminate Jews in concentration camps. I don't recall that any Italian officers participated in such an atrocity. There is a dangerous myth still around that it was "the Nazis" who carried out the Holocaust and that the German army somehow bears a lesser if any guilt.

Here is the break-down of the +/- 25'000 that are concerned with the vote. The Italians are the vast majority.

Tom | | | | | Italy allows double citizenship since 25 years or so, hence I have both passports. Most people I know, don't want to be Swiss because they would need to to military service.

Details from 24heures (13.01.2017) | | | | | Ah but look - the Turks are second in line! Shock! Horror! SVP must react!
I haven't received my voting materials yet so I haven't had a chance to read the arguments from both sides. I am also not sure why this even needs a vote. If you're the third generation here, the naturalization process should be easy enough already - unless your family refuses to integrate or you're a criminal. |

I am hovering between "why not" and "if I vote no am I implicitly approving that horrible SVP poster".
On balance I think the SVP have pushed me towards yes | The following 2 users would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |

On balance I think the SVP have pushed me towards yes | | | | | Let's hope many many more of us react this way- it would be nice to see their truly racist and untolerable poster campaign finally back fire on them.
