Guess which political party has produced these posters
They say stop citizenship for criminals and I guess the burka poster is self explanatory.
Quite why one says "yes" and the other "no" is beyond me!

Welcome to a country which has more than one popular vote than just one every 50 years. Hey, we have even multiple in a single year.

The first poster is from a Canton Bern vote from 2013, initiated by the Young-SVP Bern, which passed with 56% yes.

Tom, as you well know, there are 100s Burkas on SVP posters than in Switzerland. This is a totally shameful Poster campaign- perhaps the worst ever by the SVP/UDC :msnsick:

And yes, it has nothing to do with the subject - at all- nought, zilch, nada, zéro...

Communes/Gemeinde will be able to influence and even refuse if they have good reasons to do so. All we are talking about here is facilitated naturalisation for those whose parents and grand-parents were born here.

Makes me feel sick and ashamed.

I have yet to see one anywhere around here, so I say it's a negligible "risk" :p

Aside from that I just shrug at the SVP's posters. That is not worth getting upset over. They want to provoke, it always works, on both ends. They're not worth my energy :)

The initiative doesn't say every third-generation foreigner will get automatic citizenship. Just says it's easier to get it and really, that's only fair. Chances that someone whose parents and grandparents have already lived here is not integrated at all are really pretty close to zero. The odd exception may apply.

I've seen a few. The only time it makes me nervous when it's a woman driving a car ... in my direction.
I saw one in Winterthur, the material was obviously first class and I had to admit, she even looked beautiful :eek: Well, the burka did, obviously as I saw nothing of her.

I drove past one yesterday and I admit, I laughed out loud. How much more simple/stupid will they get?! Not even the dumbest voter is still impressed with their campaigns, they've turned into a joke now. Imo.

A terzo probably has nobody left "at home", no connections anymore to her/his original country. In fact his/her original country indeed is Switzerland.

A reasonable assumption. But if it had any influence at all it should increase the terzo's motivation and obviate a potential need to lower the bars.

I don't understand how you could vote against this. If you can't obtain a passport as a third generation immigrant than what chance do you have?

If you're a third generation immigrant who is unable to obtain a passport you should probably be asking your parents and grandparents why they still haven't bothered to integrate enough to be eligible for citizenship!

If it wasn't for the SVP, I may not have felt the need to apply for facilitated naturalisation last April. So thanks SVP :)

As a new Swiss citizen I'm again thankful that the SVP will make my first voting choice such an easy one :D
