In Neuenburger Parliament SVP lost 11 of their 20 seats

So last weekend SVP lost over half their seats!
Is this the start of something new (like the Trump effect!) or were there special circumstances!

Re: In Neuenburger Parliament SVP lost 11 of their 20 seats

The SVP (or UDC in Romandie) also lost very badly in the Valais/Wallis recently.

I think the Swiss have been really shocked by Brexit and Trump- and also the threat of NF in France. In both case, t is not the left that benefited- but the Greens and the centre right with the PLR.

Re: In Neuenburger Parliament SVP lost 11 of their 20 seats

They put up blatantly racist posters for referenda which they then go on to lose...

So they polarise the vote, which may help them a tiny bit with their core, who are then demoralised and don't bother to vote for losers.

Regardless of your view on their politics, it's a dumb strategy.

neither did I, for sure.

In fact, they have been so soundly beaten- that they have renounced presenting a candidate for the second vote, and so have the Greens. The 2 serving PLR and the 3 socialists are therefore re-elected without a second vote.
