Re: Press freedom in Switzerland?

Funny, cos the best way to shut up American internet libertarians is to tell them you live in Switzerland.

Works every time.

Such as?

Tom
Well, there's that enormous prison camp just south of Chiasso, where the inmates dwell in squalor, eating dreadful food (I heard they eat some kind of mush made out of maize! ) and working long hours for very little pay.

Perhaps that's one of the secrets he's talking about?

RE: cover ups
I posted articles and stories of things that friends would tell me.

And here is some other must read material, it's not so much the main story
that's fascinating - which is complex, with hard to believe plots - but some hard to find articles from the press that were clipped in this PDF.
We learn that a journalist at an independent satirical paper was eventually sacked for covering a case of corruption in the justice system.
It's a letter written by a victim of the Swiss courts and their corrupt magistrates, lawyers etc., in a nutshell the author was apparently victim of a scheme
or bad practices by a law firm in the context of his divorce. When he spoke up and wrote a tell-all account on the internet, he was sent to prison.
In Switzerland, one way to shut people up is to send them to prison (for committing calumny even though they tell the truth) or in some cases indefinite detention with the help of psychiatrists (who receive fat payments
from the state) .

Also, it cites a Law professor who says practices similar to those of totalitarian regimes take place in Switzerland. He talks about Fribourg
the canton, which according to what he says is rotten to the core.
All the people in the justice system know each other he says, something,
I, a layman in the field, have talked about when I described how things work in CH. Now you have to read the little black book this expert wrote. he also says "Nobody dares to criticize anything, nobody dares to speak up for fear of the consequences" (soon or later there are reprisals career wise etc.).
He writes : if one wants to get into parliament they know they can't criticize the justice system. Politicians cover up stuff because they can't go against the establishment. And everybody looks after their career.

If even politicians are scared, guess how journalists feel ... Especially nowadays when the profession loses jobs left and right .
Why is the law professor not yet in jail?
