Re: Arosa has upset the Jews

my girlfriend was working in hotel and as she said, some hotels do not want to organize some special days for jews because they made really shit. And also on saturday, they do not use elektrical/elektronic devices, so that non-jewish have to do for them

Why they do like that? The answer is easy. Read the Talmud and you will see how they see non-jews (goyim). Non-jews have been created to be served Jews, like animals. Normally, killing a person, stealing something from people are also sin in their belief. But if you do that from a goy (non-jew), then it counts on a good deed. Thats why they can do horrible things to non-jews as doing a good deed.

I understand the other owner/chec regarding these jewish behaviors.

PS: The above what I said, i basically quoted from Talmud. Not my words or my personal idea.

Re: Arosa has upset the Jews

Just why is Graubunden so popular with Orthodox Jews in the summer time? Interlaken is now big with middle eastern muslims and local hoteliers roll out the red carpet (or prayer mat and compasses pointing to mecca) for them. Perhaps hoteliers in Graubunden need to pay more attention to the needs of their orthodox jewish customers?

And the Protocols of the Elders of Zion - that's a great book too, isn't it?

Anytime I stay in a hotel I tend to make shit. Luckily hotels (at least 3 stars and above ones) provide facilities for that.

Using a compass is wrong...

The shortest route to Mecca is with a great circle route, not flat earth magnetic north based route

Considering the events in Charlottesville as a comparison, I am hard-pressed to give any credibility to Tzipi Hotovely (Israeli deputy foreign minister) for calling this incident "an anti-Semitic act of the worst and ugliest kind."

By all means call out this sign (which frankly was naive) but do apply an appropriate level of outrage, otherwise we are left with a Trumpian political environment of 100% outrage, 100% of the time, without an nuances. For all the noise, you can no longer hear the signal.

Not entirely sure it needed to become a diplomatic incident either - it was quite clearly a case of bad translation and naivety.

Seems a bit daft, when their closest ally is currently enjoying a resurgence of swastikas on the streets, and theyve been very quiet about that....

I would suggest that hotels in Graubunden are paying a great deal of attention to the needs of their orthodox Jewish customers and that is why the area is so popular within this community.

Here in Klosters the Vereina Hotel is fully booked with orthodox Jewish holidaymakers and is a Kosher only hotel for a three week period. All the windows onto the swimming pool area have been covered over and the restaurant and bars are for the exclusive use of this group only. For me, this is perhaps one step too far in catering to the needs of one particular group of guests.

Shops here are stocking kosher food, and some restaurants also offer some kosher dishes.

In my view many parts of Switzerland are going out of their way to accommodate Jewish orthodoxy with some even providing mitzvah (? Spelling) bathing facilities. Obviously the wording of the notice in Arosa was stupid, but I think it was simply a result of not being careful with one's words (which is rather common here) rather than anti-semitic in intention. I am sure a simple word wih the writer pointing out that it should have addressed all guests would have done the trick, rather than reporting it to the international media.

it's the basics of hospitality business. If you target a certain group to make profit you have to fulfil their needs....otherwise they go somewhere else.

Yes, you are correct. I guess this one hotel seems not to be as well run as many others in this area.

Re: Arosa has upset the Jews

It's clear that the signs were phrased in an appalling manner.
I think the pool-related sign should have addressed all guests.

The other sign- should be understood first.
Religious Jews usually travel with heavy loads of pre-packed kosher meals. Sometimes the meals require a fridge.
However the standard Swiss fridge found in those apartments is too small for the entire vacation's supply.
Therefore management has given the Religious guests a permission to access the restaurant's fridge, where more storage room is available.

It looks like some guests abused this permission- sent children to pick the meals or were inconsiderate to the staff.
Then they had to limit the access time, but only during preparation of the main meals.

So in fact, by allowing usage of the fridge only to Jews, Jews were privileged rather than discriminated.

I'm willing to bet Ruth Thomann has Jewish blood in her ancestry. As she said, it was a poor choice of words.
Dou you have to be Jewish to call your child Ruth?

Methinks someone's jumping to conclusions.

No.

I had a Swiss-German catholic girlfriend named Ruth, and a catholic aunt as well.

And I knew an African girl from Swaziland whose name was Ruth. Very unlikely neither had she any connections nor came she from Israel.
