Ignazio Cassis is our new Bundesrat

It was an exciting day in Bern today. Ignazio Cassis has been chosen as our new Cabinet Minister. He's from the FDP party and is from Tessin.

Re: Ignazio Cassis is our new Bundesrat

Isn't it a wonderful thing that the appointment of a new Bundesrat is more of a joyous occasion than that of public uproar and mistrust?

First Ticinese in the federal council since Flavio resigned in 1999 (I knew his brother Sergio).

And a slap in the face to Ada Marra!

Damm, 18 years! It is like if the Ticinesi were really second class citizens in CH, no?

Actually, no.

With 8/117, that's nearly 7%, more than their share of the population.

Hell, Motta was on it for 28 years, and president 5 times, the most of anybody in the 20th century (two guys were president 6 times, but in the 19th century).

One of these phases again where I know more about what's happening in the rest of the world than here. Wake up call.
Thanks olygirl.

Re: Ignazio Cassis is our new Bundesrat

So which department will he get?

Hopefully foreign affairs.

Is he the only one who speaks all four languages?

Do you think he will need Romantsch to become friends with some other country or are you planning to let Grischun loose?

They speak it (Ladin) in parts of Italy.

How can someone Italian sounding, yet named after a french liqueur, be all bad?

Grischun being similar to Catalan, depending on how things turn out there, there may be a market for it.
