I miss fish fresh from the sea.
Well, even in Italy they all go through the wholesalers in Milano even if you live near the sea, so no advantage to living near the sea for that.

There are still places in the U.K. where you can buy it straight from the beach.

I am very concerned that corporations based out of Switzerland will continue to outsource mid-level positions and will only allow positions to remain for wealthy higher level executives. I love it here and hope dairy farmers are willing to take in new applicants at this rate.

There used to be quite a few enterprising individuals who would pick fresh fish up from the docks and deliver it inland to restaurants and members of the public alike. You just needed to know which day they came to your area, and where they dropped stuff off, and get your orders in for the next week.

One of the things that frustrate me about Switzerland is the variety of products on the shelves. For example, I had difficulties finding baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. I'm finding I am ordering more and more online for delivery to Germany. At some point, Switzerland needs to address this, as we cannot exist simply to enrich Jeff Bezos.

Switzerland is not alone in this regard, but we desperately need a wider range of alternatives to Amazon, Ebay, etc.

Are we getting paid for brainstorming?

Felt the same as you, although if I was living in the Tessin I'd feel the same.

You can't upload photos on EF anymore, so am forced to send a link only (apologies)

Re: The Future of Switzerland

At the moment, I am very keen to see what happens with the US corporate tax reform, the Swiss Corporate Tax Reform (CTR III), the OECD initiatives on tax transparency and base erosion/profit shifting, the increase of high-profile audits worldwide, and the interplay between all of the above.

The global business landscape could look very different from what it is now, after the dust is settled. Or maybe it's much ado about nothing. Exciting times ahead!
