Re: Why is SVP popular?

There are two types of salt: hipster and non-hipster. I actually like the hipster stuff because it's the sort of Veblen good which really impresses the neighbours.

The thing that I've always wondered is: how do they get the fecal matter (which infests littoral waters) off of sea salt? Or does it simply not matter? (Every pun intended...)

I prefer reading stuff about salt than talking about SVP. I think salt it's by far a more interesting and useful subject.

It's common procedure on EF to simply change the subject within threads here, if the original subject/title is boring/worn out.
A bit like real life.

Then they better start a thread about salt. How exciting it will get on EF!

Here are two ways of looking at it (actually, both are the same way):

1. Threads are like a chat down the pub.

2. The mind wanders.

Yea, without it they wouldn't have me. And what the hell are town centre restaurants, wine dealers and the local guitar shop going to do then?

I know. Coz you can't just sell/repair. You gotta have social life/teach/party/gigs/music camps through the shop. I don't think it is because people would be lazy in the US and only want to buy online, your shop must have been at the beginning of online anything. But distances to a shop matters, that place is enormous.

I talked to a buddy who's hb is a library director. Forget a lovely quiet life of a library boss. All he does (and has to do) is campaigning, arranging social activities, lectures, fundraising, putting beehives and organic gardens around the lib, local art exhib, hiring entertaining staff and polularizing experts, organizing day camps, free lib lunches...he likes it, but imagine when it gets here. And it will. It is already to some extent even though there is a good community funding here.

Btw - I think it is linked, US music uni summer camps for adults and kids are top notch. I worked at few. Music shops often had deals through them.

Re: Why is SVP popular?

In the recent local elections, SVP lost seven seats in each of Zürich, Luzern and Basle! A new trend?

The Zurich SVP party leaders resigned but commented that it is the National leadership that manage the image and perception of the SVP, not the local leadership!

With the poor Luzern and Basle results yesterday, it seems they have a good point?
