You mean like film, real film, not digital sensor to storage medium?
Yes I prefer film, dynamic range, highlight handling & better skin tones than any digital camera. It's also faster on set, way faster if there is no video assist, The only digital camera to come close is the Arri Alexa.

You can see recent tests of all the high end Digital cameras & a few cheapies thrown into the mix here, if you look further you can see the film test as well. Raw data is available from the tests if you wish to dig deeper..

http://cmltests.net/Digital-Cinemato...ions-2018.html

Still a few films being shot on film, clearly it's not just me.

Confused. Do they want to keep the " summer time " permanently and not put the clocks back at end October? And why should SWitzerland do what this alco Juncker says

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

Some people can't read.

Yes, the EC will propose permanent summer time for the whole EU.
This will probably happen, but it depends on the states.
For countries between the Mediterranean and Denmark/Lithuania/Ireland it makes sense. Spain however will probably have to fix its totally wrong time by moving to the same time as Portugal and Ireland before doing this, or most Spaniards will see no sun light when going to work in the morning.
For Sweden and Finland it would also be challenging to be on permanent summer time, as the sun would rise too late in the winter.

Yes, the idea is to keep summer time all year. It was tried as an experiment in Britain in the late 60s and worked great in my opinion. It was somewhat dark going to school in the morning, but the extra light in the afternoon more than made up for that. Apparently, it was abandoned because it upset Scottish cows. (Who, amazingly, could tell the time and had an opinion on the subject.)

Swiss schoolchildren will cope fine with it, although modern weak and feeble British schoolchildren will melt like the Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Thank goodness they'll be saved by Brexit...

Scotland is too far North.
Like Sweden and Finland that I mentioned in my previous post, it's tough for them to use summer time in the winter.

The morning are much more important. How you wake up affects your whole day.

The folks at Stonehenge are thrilled and relieved to hear the good news - no more moving stones back and forward an hour..

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

To be honest, I do not see the problem. All one has to do is stick to winter time, no matter what.. and protest non-stop that the country and all who live in it are not in sync with you.

Months of complaining.. what's not to like?

Generally I ignore almost everything you post, as it's usually complete crap, but I actually lolled at this post.

What's natural about time? It's an entirely man-made construct. There are 24 hours in a day because humans say so. It's September because that's what it says on the calendar. Today is the first day of spring in Australia because that's how it's done there, even though we're still in summer in Europe and not yet in autumn. Speaking of Australia, you can celebrate new year twice in the space of an hour at Tweed Heads/Coolangatta, thanks to man-made time. And how many cows, goats and ibex wear watches? I haven't noticed my cat or dog sneaking peeks at the clocks around the house to make sure they're on time for their appointments to lie on the sofa or chase their tail.

It seems to me that you just have to complain about everything or you'd never be happy. Perhaps you should go and live in western China for a while. You'd soon find out what I mean about time being man-made and you might appreciate what we have in the rest of the world.

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

To me, the whole issue is simply a bit of populism to distract from the core problems of the EU. (Refugees from wars promoted by or supported by EU members and allies, Trade disputes, EU exiteers, growing populism, etc. etc. )

The issue of Daylight saving time is a non issue. Most clocks* alter themselves and anyway we are so used to having our lives ruled by electronic gadgets that being told to get out of bed an hour earlier/later twice a year by an alarm clock hardly makes any difference.

Anyway, it will give the EU bureaucrats something to do, drafting all that legislation to abolish it, and while they are at it, they should also plan to consult the public on dropping the leap year and the leap second as a future distraction, as and when required.

*My car (a 2011 VW) is an exception here. I have to get out the instruction book 2 times a year to work out how to change it. When I change the car, I will NOT buy one with a clock which does not compensate for daylight saving time (or what ever rules ar in force at the time of purchase). Manufacturers please note.

Instead of moving clocks by an hour at one go, why not do it by one minute every day for two months?

Great idea. It will also have the benefit of generating a lot of useful activity for otherwise unemployable bureaucrats in coordinating cross border timetables (air/see/land) with countries which do not participate in this scheme.

*Australia would stick to their season changes on the first of the month, of course, and Queensland would stick to ignoring the time change altogether.

No split the difference between summer & winter time! I am sure that would be the preferred Swiss solution based on several 1000 meetings I attended where everything was a compromise on a compromise.
