Probably. But still Switzerland's own decision.

And again, the survey showed clearly (80% I believe) it IS what most people want. Or do you believe the vast majority should bow to your wishes?

How did I mislead? I refered to 80% in the survey.

But at that level it is also a very clear indicator of the desire of the whole population.

Well the working hours are also to blame. If you want your extra 1 hour in summer then start work one hour earlier.

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

On the one side we have nearly 5 million people that were sufficiently interested to complete a survey and of whom 80% wanted permanent summer time.

On the other side we have the EF's current resident grouch, Omtatsat.

Slight imbalance maybe? How about you just get up 1 hour later to compensate and leave the vast majority to enjoy their evening daylight.

Doubt it. From memory (I answered the survey) there was enough to stop most automated bots. Plus why would bot operators be interested?

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

A friend told me last week that while the EC is discussing this they also kind of plan to let every member choose which time they want to stick to. That should be fun.

Let's say Germany ends up one hour behind us, you guys all got one more hour to shop cheaply every evening.

And in December you can expect the sun to come up at 9am if they dont put the clocks back!! So ein scheiss! So where is energy saved. One has to have the lights on longer in the morning. Puts Zürich on the level of Moscow in Winter. Thank the shit EU for this.
Oh, that sounds uncomfortable. Here's an idea: why don't they put the clocks back an hour in winter, then? They could call it "winter time", and there wouldn't be any summer time, just standard time from March to October, so you'd be happy!

HTH.

Perfectly normal and what happens today. That's why Finland is one hour in front and Ireland one behind. All EU rules currently require is that all member states have summer time and make the hour change on the same 2 days and that would be dropped.

Each country is free to chose it's own time band, there would just be no summer/winter change any more. In reality I would be pretty confident that everyone lying in the France/German longitudes (therefore including CH) would have the same time.

Why do you write in Germlish, if you're Australian?

Why?

France is physically in another times zone.

What are you talking about, you crazy individual? Europe is divided very neatly into three separate time zones, by the easy-to-follow red lines shown on this map. I can't imagine where you get your dangerous, communist notions from!

(Wow, there's a lot of typos in that map!)

Politically not - and that will take priority. Want to bet?

I would only see Spain potentially moving outside of the F/D time zone of those currently in.

Following that logic, the US, Canada, Australia, and Russia should all have a single timezone.

Meh, wouldn't make any difference to me, in the Winter I leave for work in the dark and I arrive home in the dark.
