What's wrong with trying to make the best use of the daylight?

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

Isn't the story today from the European Commission about wanting to stay on summer time, ie CEST, so it's daylight saving time all year round?

We'll see, sounds like this will need a lot more consultation, especially in northern European countries, but also beyond before a decision is taken.

They should first get rid of the stupid single time zone for most of the EU.

EU has 3 time zones, I think they work fine.
What's the issue?

FWIW, I also have no issue with DST, it's one more way of marking change of seasons.

If people hate it so much, let's all go to Zulu time and be done with it...

Aren't some of the tropical French islands thechnically part of the EU?

Possibly some of the various islands that the UK and Spain own may also qiualify.

Re: Bye bye daylight saving

Long way off yet. They have to come up with some formal agreement and then it has to be ratified by all the EU countries.

Most is a single time-zone, whereas it used to be three.

Swiss time is almost an hour off of true time, for example, as are many other countries in Europe.

The French overseas départements; Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Reunion (9 in all) are part of France and are EU. The French Territories (Tahiti etc) are not EU.

Spain has the two enclaves in Morocco which are Spain. None of the U.K. Territories are EU. Gibraltar is either in or out depending on who you are talking to.

And contrary to local belief Verbier is not part of the U.K.

There are bigger things to worry about than every single post on EF. Probabably every single thing on the internet.

But if we scrapped everything and banned everybody (except the poor soul who really does have the biggest thing to worry about) then where would we be?

Or did you have a point?

Perhaps you were trying to use banality as irony?

As a film cameraman I aways make use of daylight, if I need to shoot at sunrise in Mid summer I will have to be on location 30 minutes before the sun rises, no need to change everybody's clock. Same for end of day, I go home 1 hour after sunset as we shoot for 45 about minutes of 'Magic Hour' after sunset unless we decide to get out the lights & work longer.

You mean like film, real film, not digital sensor to storage medium?
