How/When to see Swiss' parliament discussions

Hello,
I'd like to assist to one of the parliament discussions, for the sake of seeing how politics in a civilized country works, and how different it is from some of the discussions in the British common house I see once in a while on TV.
Since apparently the website of Stadt Bern is only in German, I wanted to asked here if this is possible, and if yes, when are the next sessions scheduled?
Thanks

The national parliaments gather four times per year, the next session begins in September. You can find the session calendar here. The session will be shown on the public TV stations, meetings start in the morning.

Like in other countries, most opinions and decisions are made ahead of the parliamentary vote. You will see another discussion culture than in Italy though.

Re: How/When to see Swiss' parliament discussions

What you will find is, that most of the times there will not be full live coverage of the two chambers.

Live broadcasts from the small chamber (Ständerat) are extremely rare, if not unheard of.

Live broadcasts of the large chamber (Nationalrat) are a little more common. Usually they happen when topics of a greater national interest are being debated or when there are elecetions of the executive branch (Bundesrat).

You will find that there is ample delayed coverage with clips and soundbites and commentary/perspective during the regular news casts (Tagesschau/10vor10) or in special reports (Rundschau/Arena/Cafe Fédéral).

You will ususally find the live broadcasts on "SFi" (only on Cable).

You can find the session calendar here.
As it says there sessions are open to visitors (ID needed), streamed live on the internet and archived videos are also available.
