If all of them change their mind once they live in a free country, why would we need a law to force them and make our countries a little less free then?
Is that rhetorical? I never wrote in favour of the law?

I wonder who is forcing Sinead O'Conner to cover her hair (apart from the voices in her head)?

Ain't nobody more "devout" or willing to bleat about it than a born again [insert religion].

Hopefully never. The hyprocracy of ‘They force woman to wear it’ with the responce of ‘we will ban women from wearing it’ is so appalling.
Either it is fine to dictate what woman can and can’t wear, or you have an egalitarian society.
As a woman, I don’t ever want to live in a country that enforces female attire, yes that means I would not live in certain arabic countries, but it also means that I feel uncomfortable living in a country that bans burkas.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Don’t know if this will show up appropriately but PREACH!!!

Really? Burqas? as in this:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Burqa_clad_women_bying_at_a_market.jpg
I see regularly Arabian ladies in their black Niqabs. I have never seen a real life Persian burqa in CH.
Me neither and I permanently worked and basically lived 10 hours a day amongst people from countries where these things come from for almost two decades.

With open borders they have to rethink their nationalism. And why dont they ban the Arab men from wearing their traditional dress. They could be hiding guns and drugs underneath this frock

That and the fake beard is something you would wear at Fasching.

Re: When is Switzerland as a nation going to ban burqa/niqab?

talking about telling women what they can and can't wear. the fat ugly cashier in coop told my wife she wasn't allowed in the shop in running gear! normal running gear that she'd just run through the town in.

i'm still planning on the writing a complaint to coop when i find the time.

Perhaps not the runnig gear but the sweaty running gear.

Wouldn't surprise me if something got lost in translation.

Then they ought to be consistent and refuse to serve people who reek of stale tobacco smoke which is pretty nauseating to those who still have a sense of smell.

no translation was involved.

and sweat doesn't smell immediately after a run until it becomes stale. and this was summer when the shop was full of sweaty and actually smelly germans.

Re: When is Switzerland as a nation going to ban burqa/niqab?

We got told that women (in fact all people) cannot work out in tanktops, the ones actually finely engineered for working out in them...but we gotta put on an ugly big tshirt. Why? It's not like the sweat drops anywhere or people don't take showers..the droplets on the treadmills are from drinking out of bottles while running.

Quite common in Germany for instance - most gyms have a dress code which does not include tank tops and off shoulder shirts (among others)...Here, I am not sure about which area in CH but at my gym I have seen men wearing tank tops, women - not so much (oh well, maybe I just didn't notice). I wear a normal training t-shirt and was never told anything about a dress code, though I assume that if I showed up in something not according to the "rules" they would have let me know. And aren't we wiping down the gym equipment anyway?

This is how I used to run, or with a tank covering back as well.

This is how I have to run now:

It is not a big deal, and who cares as long as I am moving, and all that...but I don't really get the reasoning, on a treadmill. On machines, yes, people rest weights on the shoulders so maybe it slipped or something, or it is more hygienic, but eliptical and treadmills....ughhh. Just lemi sprint through my kms not wearing ugly tshirts. Yes, whiping the handles and all.

That's what just about EVERYONE in my gym wears: tanks, men and women alike. And then we all wipe the backrest, handles and whatnot with our own little towel. I know it's not SUPER hygienic to wipe it dry with a towel that already wiped sweat 10 times that day, but it's not like we're sweating Alien acid anyhow.

They should provide wipes and sanitiser. I'm surprised they don't...

Its not about hygiene. When bodybuilding was big in the 80s did some gyms want to make a point that they are about health and not for the poser. So they made house rules that banned tank tops.
