I don't think there is a law against eating cat shit, so cat shit is also halal.

Toblerone has always been halal.
You started well but I think here we have a problem: The laws defining what is halal or not are not just governed by civic laws. There is no law against eating cat doo-doo but it is forbidden in Islam because it is dirty/unhealthy (we now know if we leave cat poo to compost for a couple of years it will be safe - although still disgusting - to eat). So by the rule of deduction cat poo added Toblerone would be non halal.

I agree Toblerone was always halal though.

Ok, I keep it simple for you>
Me: Id make a chocolate bar out of cat shit for the AfD guy...
Kedi: That would be worse than non-halal.
You: Not worse, DIFFERENT! (followed by an uncalled for explanation of the historic context of halal rules...)

I am at this point not sure if you are thick or just very experimental with your food choices...
Kedi wrote that something was 'worse than non-halal'.

That suggests the Halal is better than non-Halal. It's not.

Halal has no place in the modern world. It's a historical hygiene issue.

Nothing more.

I ignored your cat litter comments because, to be honest, this isn't Kindergarten.

That's next year's marketing strategy. Sshhhh!

There's quite enough red-mist and pearl-clutching for this year, thank you very much.

That is not what I meant when I wrote it at all. I just meant eating feces is worse than halal and non-halal.

Thinking halal is just about hygiene proves that you know little about the matter though. Hygiene is just one of the reasons that would something non-halal.

I say let people eat whatever they want, however they want it, within law.

Your joke kind of falls flat because a cat nibbling on food would not make it non halal (haram). I appreciate the attempted humour though.
I blame the German page of the halal certification institute which says:

Quote:
"Verboten ist euch das Verendete sowie Blut und Schweinefleisch und das, worüber ein anderer als Allahs Name angerufen wurde; das Erdrosselte, das zu Tode Geschlagene, das zu Tode Gestürzte oder Gestoßene und das, was Raubtiere angefressen haben,

Re: Toblerone is now Halal

Almost anything invented or discovered after the 8th century is probably non-Halal.

And in the interest of balance... we still managed to invent and discover despite the Christian church.

To be fair did the church try everything in their power to stop us though... I personally find it funny how this threads always go off as soon as somebody uses Islam as an example. If it was some sticker that the chocolate was Kosher... well, anyways:

Toblerone is owned by Mondelez, an international giant (Oreo, Cadbury, Milka...). They sell their stuff the world over and that includes some 1.8 billion Muslims. If a few percent of those really care about that halal sticker... whats the issue?

I personally want my chocolate to be halal, because I would be very worried if it for some reason did not pass the tests - why on earth should there be pig DNA in it? Its a bit like the "gluten free" sticker I saw on some rice product lately - I honestly expect it to be gluten free, because I otherwise really wonder what sort of rice you are using...

And just for the record is it not the first time this comes up: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/b...-a7642991.html

Truth is that a lot of candy/chocolate contains animal products to make it shine, last longer, make materials bind better, strengthen a taste, give dough better quality etc..

Shiny choccy comes from being "tempered". Amazing what you learn from The Great British Bake Off, not just how to avoid a soggy bottom and get lovely plump buns...

So you pick a Muslim forum user, pick an unrelated post, try to twist it with a really weird spin just to hammer your point home that her religion is stupid? Congrats.

I have the strong feeling you are the kind of keyboard warrior who would not dare to do this in real life... I wonder what that sort of people did before the Internet?

I think what is meant is the carcasses left after a wild animal killed another animal. I don't think it would be a problem if a lion came and took a nibble out of your halal-slaughtered lamb (which is anyway unlikely if you are not a Sub-Saharan Muslim living in close proximity to lions). I am pretty sure cat-nibbled food is fine.

This is a post about Halal chocolate today . Is a discussion about the place of halal in modern society today off limits? Bit PC really. Perhaps mumsnet is better for you?

Which is another one of those historical reasons for halal slaughter - so people could be sure the meat they were eating was not going to make them ill.

Eating meat from a rotting carcass of an animal killed by another is just not going to happen if you are a practising muslim.

This is a thread about chocolate that was always halal, which is nowadays also labeled as halal for marketing reasons.
I wonder why you wana start a discussion about the place of halal food in society starting from that.

Please explain why this subject is off-limits? Are you, or Trevor, or Kedi, a forum moderator?

In what way was my post anti-Muslim?

In what way is it wrong to discuss the relevance of Halal food in today's society in a thread about a product that recently has new Halal labeling?

What other subjects are off-limits on this forum?
