Some new fines coming into force in 2020

"From January 2020, a whole range of minor offences will no longer result in criminal proceedings in Switzerland.

Under the regulations that come into force at the start of next year, people who are caught committing a minor infraction listed in the new rules can pay an on-the-spot fine without police even needing to note down their personal details.

Alternately, people can choose to pay within a 30-day period. In those cases, police will take their personal details and provide them with a payment slip. If the payment is made on time, the police record of the offence will then be destroyed."

"Here are some of the fines listed in the new regulations:

1) Unauthorised, intentional consumption of non-legal cannabis: 100 francs.

2) Carrying a loaded weapon (that is, not separating a weapon and ammunition when transporting a firearm in cases where no permit is required to do so for example, when moving house): 300 francs.

3) Use of civilian drones in national hunting ban areas: 150 francs.

4) Using a mobile phone will riding a bicycle: 40 francs.

5) Making use of a recycling depot outside of opening hours: 50 francs.

6) Failure to carry your driving licence with you: 20 francs

7) Smoking in enclosed public spaces: 80 francs

8) Crossing a street near a pedestrian crossing: 10 francs

9) Stopping on a motorway or road because you have run out of petrol: 120 francs"

What if you stop to take-in a beautiful view? Cop rolls up and you have no 'technical' reason for the stop...

Come on, use some basic common sense. There's a significant difference between running out of petrol on the side of a road or motorway due to your own negligence, and consciously stopping in a safe and appropriate place to see the sights.

So they just take the money and there's no record of that either? No receipt?

You get fine, unless the stop is in an authorised area

They'll certainly give you a receipt if you ask.

All those things where "now" (2020) they can issue a fine were forbidden before. But instead of a fine it was a citation, court summons, court fees, administration fees from the license authority, and potential loss of the license.

As stopping on the autobahn for no good reason is forbidden, you have neither a breakdown nor no fuel/electricity (yes, the fine can also be given if you have empty batteries) the old spiel from above will apply: citation, court summons, court fees, administration fees from the license authority, and potential loss of the license.

Not new. Not changed. Both are already on the price list.

How do you use it if it closed? What do people do, just dump the stuff outside the entrance?

They're not usually locked. Most deposit points are just big skips at the edge of a car park.

Take it back home and come again when it is open.
But this also applies to bottle banks which are accessible 24/7 but should only be used during certain posted hours. The people living close by will thank you.

In all the communes I've lived in they have been like Fort Knox.
I imagine they don't want people leaving their crap at the gate for the employees to have to discard appropriately when they open.
