I didn't say I expected it, just curious to know how much can be saved by going direct to the producer like this. And not to compare with mass-produced product, but with similarly well controlled production that has to go through the whole supply chain.
Bit naive to think that you'll save money buying local Swiss meat compared with mass-produced French supermarket meat?

Surely the question is "How much more will I have to pay?"

I did. Pretty clear to me. You're back-pedalling, especially as you also wrote:

Price per kilo is what I was looking for, particularly for chicken and steak. Just interested in the concept of how far (sic) local production can go in reducing costs.
But, hey, you're a mod so you must be right...

Re: For anyone who buys Bell meat products...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I never understood the mad dash to Germany for cheap meat that doesn't even taste good. We should all eat less meat and buy from trusted farmers.

For those who don't have time to go to the butcher or local farm, I can highly recommend this website for buying all sorts of locally produced fresh food:

www.farmy.ch

I also endorse FARMY. Get service. Its part of my weekly shopping. Of course still run to COOP for the small stuff.

I normally buy meat in Italy, which tastes great, from trusted butchers.

Farmers don't normally sell meat.

Re: For anyone who buys Bell meat products...

I've tried many different brands of meat substitute, mostly I quite like them..

Until this one .. the Boyond Meat burger.. I totally love it..

Go try some.. I almost prefer it to my own home made real burgers.

More than one review complains it has a chemical smell. How do you find it? I'm guessing it doesn't bother you since you say you love it...

Though 9 francs for 2 supermarket-bought burgers is simply ridiculous.

I wouldn't say it had any chemical smell. Loved the texture and it was very juicy.
Everyone has their own taste obviously but for me, most of these substitute products are samey and generic with very similar taste. mostly just tasting of whatever sauce you/they add.. This one actually smelled and tasted of "meat" on it's own.

Bell has a factory shop where you can buy the over production at a hugely reduced price to that marked on the packs.

This may be. But I think the idea was to let people know what Bell are up to. Whether sold at full price or cut price, the suffering continues.

There was a thread about it a few years back:
https://www.englishforum.ch/other-ge...here-pigs.html

I've seen them a few times out on farms, but it was clearly a few pigs for the farming family, not a mass production site.
