I have heard that as an English expression.

Wrong answer. It should be:
What do you do when you see a red door?
I want it painted it black.

There's no indication that it was ever achieved. Nor that you're the one going to do the work.

Oh no, I've been mishearing this as "I want to paint it black", I thought in his misery he was going to be an industrious little painter showing the world his state of mind. Now he's just having a whinge where he wants everyone else to do the work so that the colour palette of the world matches his view.

I've got Amy Winehouse "Back to Black" and Shakin' Stevens "Green Door" on a loop in my brain now. Eclectic...

Funny how storys like this, just drives people into the opposite directions. Some lefties that have nothing to do outside of digging into every possible scenario that they could virtue signal as it's a new religion now.

I never even went to Läderach but after seeing people getting butthurt, I might go now and grab some juicy chocolate and eat it infront of my nearest University.

Re: Laderach (Läderach)... run by anti-gay and anti-abortion religious fundamentalist

According to today's Basler Zeitung, the shop on the front of the Clara Shopping mall had acid thrown outside it this morning. The substance thrown causes coughing, sore throat etc and the smell affected the entire mall so the fire brigade had to attend to deal with it.

When people are protesting about something, when they take measures like this they cease to have a valid argument as far as I am concerned. We are all entitled to our opinions, freedom of speech etc., but let's do it in a civilised and erudite manner. Chucking acid solves nothing and undermines whatever cause you're standing up for.

Thanks for that, I couldn't remember what the press said it was called. OH has a chemistry degree and worked in chemistry before becoming an IT guy, he told me it smells really horrible. There really is no excuse for throwing stuff like that, the person who did it is a poor excuse for a human being.

What amazes me is that not one of them shut it off or had someone on hand to do so. It explains why you see normally 2 firemen well braced before using a hose, not perched on top of a truck like they're going waterering the garden.

Great alternative to Läderach: The Zuri brand Taucherli.

This bar was made specifically as a 'respond' to Läderach.

"If you want to be a Taucherli, be a Taucherli."

Laderach (Läderach), that Swiss chocolate that everyone goes crazy about. Delicious (if overpriced), right? Well, what may sour the taste somewhat is that according to current and past news reports the family who runs it are religious fundamantalists who actively campaign against homosexuality and the right to have an abortion... even for rape victims! The chief is ürg Läderach, owner and chairman of the board of Läderach AG, and he is campaigning against the "moral decline" of society today in stark contrast to progressive and tolerant values.

The son Johannes Läderach apparently even supported a far-right SVP campaigner, Daniel Regli, when he said in 2017 that:

"...promiscuous homosexuals between the ages of 30 and 40 would commit suicide because "the anal muscle no longer delivers what it promises."

Story here in original German language https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/zuerich...story/15768662

Story here translated to English https://newsfounded.com/switzerlande...-5GupxnyPC066w

I will personally never again buy Läderach chocolate and I really think more awareness of this family's ideals should be raised. Share with your friends, post it on social media, let them know by hitting their business that this kind of backwards and prejudiced idealism has no place in 2019 and beyond.

Other good options that are not known (to my knowledge, but please correct me if I am wrong) to be associated to far right religious fundamentalist views...

Läderach has just opened shops in London, New York and in various towns in Germany. They are expanding at a fast rate.

As I've mentioned earlier, Läderach employees are proud of their product and enjoy working for the company.

Thank you for bringing awareness about this.

I heard a lot about companies like Chick-fil-A or Barilla who are run by bigoted CEOs, but never bothered to check what are the attitudes towards LGBT+/women's rights within big Swiss businesses. Given my "lifestyle", I certainly wouldn't want to offer my money to such an establishment like Läderach and taint their immaculate status with my sinfulness.

In fact there are many homosexuals working for Läderach and not once has it been an issue for any of them.
How can one be sure about the validity of this statement? Any verifiable source?

How is this relevant to the discussion? OP never claimed Läderach mistreats its workforce.

It would be a mistake to blame the employees for anything. People need to pay for their living expenses. Not everyone can be picky about their job. And the demand isn’t that workers opt out entirely from the economy as a form of protest.

Certain customers, at least those who care about human dignity and rights, can take a form of civil action by not giving their money to a certain corporation. Protesting with our wallets has proven to be an effective tactic:

Chick-fil-A is ending donations to 3 groups that oppose gay marriage in an effort to halt protests and broaden its customer base.

Don't blame the workers it is not their fault.

While the workers are of course not to blame for the medieval family that runs the company, the workers potentially losing their jobs certainly aren't the reason to keep buying Laderach either. You could apply the same logic to any ethically crap company.

In the end people have every right to stop buying the product and realistically speaking it's not as though the company is going to go out of business and toss aside the workers any time soon is it? Many people will keep buying Laderach for a long time to come and we have yet to see what difference any pressure from the media or people raising awareness will make. If he (the head of the family) reduces or even stops actively funding those anti-gay and anti-abortion causes as a result then any media/consumer attention raised is worthwhile.

Personally, I would never let my notions of morality or immorality get in the way of my enjoying a great product. The only loser in the equation would be me. I'm libertarian, btw.
