Whatever anyone's view of it is, it's certainly garnered some gold-plated publicity for the brand. Mostly free of charge, too.

Re: Laderach (Läderach)... run by anti-gay and anti-abortion religious fundamentalist

Christianity for Today has campaigned against a range of issues, including assisted suicide, sex before and outside marriage, same-sex marriage, pornography, Jesus Christ Superstar and Harry Potter, according to a report in the Tages-Anzeiger in September.

His eldest son, also a member of Christians for Truth(sic), told the NZZ am Sonntag that “because I fight for the unborn life, I’m accused of misogyny. But I’m not a misogynist – 60% of our managers are women”.

Translation: Some of my best friends are birds and benders.

Definitely. I think more brands should follow the same marketing strategy.

Lots of publicity yes, but hardly 'gold-plated' considering the many negative connotations his views hold in today's society...

Well, I meant it from the perspective that it's generated a whole load of wide-reaching advertising you would have to pay a fortune for if you did it via the traditional channels.

Christianity for Todays views appear very much out of sync with todays mindset, but isn't he expressing them as his views and not the companys?

How would he prove that he's not a misogynist? 60% shows that whatever his views, they do not appear to be imposed on the company.

He may not impose his views on his company, but the very fact he and his son have these views and have publicly campaigned for and donated to organizations that promote and fulfill them, undoubtedly using money gained from his business profits (the source of his continuing wealth), is enough for many people to no longer buy his products. His backwards and anti-progressive views on homosexuality and abortion and anything else of the nature described in the article have no place in modern society and I would say the same for anyone else that holds them.

It would be illegal to impose them on the company - would he like a medal for not breaking employment law?

This wasn't really ever the point though. The point was he funds groups that Chuff and others find repugnant, so why should they give him their money to do that? They shouldn't, obviously (unless they like chocolate more than their own set of morals!).

It's not even that he believes them, as I said previously, believe whatever you like, I'll believe whatever I like and we'll both get along fine. Once you start trying to impose your brand of crazy though, then we have an issue.

I don't agree with his views, and I see him as a man fighting the tide, but it's his money and he can do what he wants with it as long as not illegal, however distasteful.

I wouldn't know how to search for such a thing, but has Laderach ever been brought up on discriminatory practices for hiring?

As to a person spouting their own brand of crazy, isn't that just the other side of the coin? Does he feel that the world has gone mad and he wants to return it to whatever ideal he feels existed in the past? He probably sees other companies supporting organisations he see repulsive.

Everybody can vote with their wallets and let them. Maybe his Christian sense of charity will see him stepping down once his public displays start hurting his employees.

And I would support him not buying their chocolate.

Find other type of products, pretty please! Enough crazy for such an innocent thing like chocolate.

Let's say I would support him not buying their.....underwear? Or socks?

Whataboutery. Nobody on here has for one minute suggested that Läderach and sons have done anything that convenes the law or needs to be proscribed.

Indeed the very premise of this thread is how you can stop the Läderachs spreading their completely legal hate via completely legal methods available to you.

Not whataboutery. That would be gay people and women treating chocolate makers and their staff badly. It was a genuine question. Not everyone online is a snidey snipey person, at all times looking for a

Ee, Edna. I don't know. These millennial snowflakes. So touchy. It's amazing they don't go red in the face and explode with rage.

Actually - another question. Is there essentially any difference between a boomer gammon and millennial snowflake? Asking for friend.

I had the same thoughts..one's offensiveness is presented as noble freedom fighting while other's is dissed as hate spreading. It would amuse if it wasn't so repetitive.

The truth is, imho, that Laderach chocolate tastes good. No guilt trip is going to make the chocolate not taste good. Nor persuade us that denying oneself luxury chocolate actually changes anything. I think their sales probably increased. Which might be the whole reason why the owner doesn't restrict himself.

I totally agree with him. It would actually have the reverse effect, I dare to assume. As did the infamous positive discrimination measures. He is way ahead of the trends and the fact that it is voiced here doesn't surprise me.
