I do. And don't do New Yorker nor NPR (Garrison Keillor isn't there anymore, anyways).

Oh absolutely. Like the phds and faculty I hang out with. Or the lib arts students.

I used to prefer Harper's, but wouldn't start introducing myself by that info. Which was my point.
Nor do most folk lead an intro with their preferred reading material.

So you limit your social interactions, eh? Pity. I like to broaden my social sphere as far as possible.

I'm with Johnny, re jazz.

I don’t think many people do to be honest. I would change the people I hung out with if I were you.

Considering the number of gay personnel working for Swiss, I reckon it goes beyond virtue signalling.

I know quite a large number of them personally and the fact is that you won't be a popular colleague if you have homophobic views so it makes perfect sense not to use an openly homophobic supplier...

Yet if you work for Läderach and with pro-gay views you apparently won't have any problems.

Who is the intolerant one again?

What does one thing have to do with the other? Comparing apples and oranges. Don't forget that it is not just the homophobia that bothers many, there is blatant misogyny to boot, which is a reputation problem for a company like Swiss that relies on a whole armada of highly qualified but badly paid women.

I'm not quite sure what your objection is.

It is a stereotype that there are more gay airline flight attendants (specifically among male crew) than in general.
You believe this to be the case.
The figures suggest you are right to believe this.
You being right doesn't stop it being a stereotype.
Employing a stereotype is not in and of itself offensive or wrong.

Going back to your point about it making sense. Does it? Swiss has over 9000 employees. While gay people might be over-represented (statistically) as flight attendants, is that true of the entire workforce? If not, it makes no more sense for Swiss to boycott Läderach than it does for e.g. Walter Meier. However, it makes sense for Swiss to boycott the supplier if it is perceived that the connection is harming Swiss's reputation.

If the reputation can be enhanced by broadcasting the severance of the relationship, then it makes even more sense. But in my view it is driven entirely by financial interests and always will be. Ergo - it's virtue signalling. Swiss isn't really showing concern or sympathy for anyone. Follow the money.

I have many friends who are jazz musicians, just not my thing.

How is it sad?

BTW, all radio programming in Switzerland is distributed by systems that I personally designed, SRG or private, just saying.

Since the mid '90s.

Tom

No - I'm just trying to clarify the discriminatory hierarchy / hiring logic of these homophobic and misogynistic executives at Swiss.

So wait.... I see what you are doing here.

First I learn that eating chocolate from Läderach makes me homophobic, than I get told that drinking Coca-cola makes me pro LGBT (add whatever letters you please), so it evens out. But now overtime I fly with Swiss I support a company that has homophobic executives so I'm back to being homophobic again..

Damn, this is getting complicated.

This exactly.

I also think that if Swiss was really Swiss, it would serve Laderach no matter what, because it is good local chocolate. I actually do not think that they are being clever in their pretended concern.
