I'd tell them they already have a family and that children aren't an accessory.

Did I say that. No. You are saying that. One of the big problems is that people are unable to deal with and understand their feelings. For example having platonic feelings to the same sex and wrongly interpreting it as homosexual feelings. They have not learnt to be able to order and interpret their feelings. They come to a false assumption.

I don't think society is as open and tolerant as some people imagine it to be.

My wife and I had kids as we wanted to create a family together.

Thats obvious. The person who prides himself on being " open " is usually quite the opposite when a certain set of circumstances arise.

So does any other couple. Doesn't make you superior or right because you're (presumably) heterosexual.
