No more Superman? - Last working phone box decommissioned.

Today marks the day were the last working public phone box in Switzerland has been decommissioned. If you still see a phone box in your neigbourhood it might be a nursery, library, a bar, or just left there so that Clark Kent has a possibility to change into Superman, but you wont find a working pay phone in it.

Re: No more Superman? - Last working phone box decommissioned.

I don't know why I get the feeling, these are the big things changing. Maybe because something common just disappears completely.
I remember us "travelling" to Eschere Wyss Platz to call abroad as the one there had been "broken" for months and months as in the calls were free.

Of course I wondered when they put up the first one:
<<Die erste Telefonkabine wurde 1881 in der Fraumünster-Post in Zürich eingerichtet.>>
The first telephone booth was installed 1881 at the Fraumünster post office in Zurich.

1881? That kind of impressed me too
