Because it was soo obvious that this would be the only response.
It's perfectly finde to accept an opinion as just that, an opinion. That's just fundamental for any sort of discussion. Even with some really strange opinions
You just can't cite a dictionary definition out of context, that should be common sense???

| | | | | Except it wasn't an opinion. I was originally responding to a Youtube video and the post gave no opinion - he merely posted nonsense, which wasn't his.
I suggest you go back and read the first post in this thread in which the OP bemoans the fact that social media is a catalyst for the nonsense that used to belong in the fiction section of the library.
The thread was not started so people could promote the conspiracy theories - there are other outlets to do that.

| | | | | This thread, like any other on EF, exists so people can discuss the matter at hand and so that opinions from all sides can be voiced, analyzed, dissected and criticized.
A bit like in science really.

| | | | | I agree. But that's the same as posting stupid videos without comment, is it?
So do you believe in what the people in F-ing Kite's video were saying or would you rather just have a go at what I am writing?

Plato mentioned in his writings. Chinese cosmology said the Earth was flat until European astronomy was introduced in the 1500s.
It doesn't seem the idea of a spherical Earth really provoked much of an issue.
The idea that there was ever a time in Europe in the last couple of millenia that flat earth was widely accepted is a myth (but not a conspiracy).

The thread was not started so people could promote the conspiracy theories - there are other outlets to do that. | | | | | Well in a thread called Conspiracy beliefs on the rise it shouldn't be a surprised that some of them are posted here... Especially from people who believe in them and feel reassured in that belief by recent findings.
However, that was not my point. This is: | Quote: | | | | | MC, please explain why people should accept a "conspiracy theory" opinion? | | | | | Why shouldn't we? To accept an opinion isn't equal to agreeing as amogles wrote. Feel free to cite the dictionary again, it just doesn't work.
I understand though, that especially in social media, some kind of filter should be applied. In a discussion forum however... Bring to the table whatever you like you just risk to ridicule yourself.
what was the problem marton?
