Petition to change Swiss COVID-19 response?

I saw on Twitter yesterday that some people have started a petition to change the Swiss governments approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. They are asking the federal council to implement a set of measures to reduce the daily new COVID-19 cases to below 50 per day.

The petition only seems to be a few days old, but already has over a 1000 signatures (most from the German speaking part). They are quite active on Twitter under the hashtag #StopCovidCH.

Has anyone heard anything about this? Personally, I do think that the numbers from last week with >100 cases (sometimes even above 300!) per day and rising are concerning. What do you think?

Here the link to the petition: https://act.campax.org/efforts/stopcovidch
They also have an English version here: https://act.campax.org/petitions/les...ases-daily-now

For some reason it's not listed on the overview page (it was yesterday - maybe there is a technical problem).

PS: I hope it is ok with the mods to post it in "Daily life". I was wondering if I should put it here or into "Swiss politics/news", but then again what affects our daily life more than this right now?

At any given time there is probably a dozen petitions being organized in this country so it’s not really news and a thousand signatures is nothing in that context. And in any case even if they manage to collect sufficient signatures in the prescribed form, it will be irrelevant by the time it would be voted on.

What happens on Twitter is best left on Twitter. Anyone who is interested is probably already there...

Yes, I agree it is not very big (yet?). I just saw a lot of activity on Twitter. Let's see how it turns out.

I don't know much about petitions that are starting out, but 1000 signatures in something like 3 or 4 days sounds quite impressive to me.

After all, each petition start with 0.

Re: Petition to change Swiss COVID-19 response?

I signed up to Twitter and after about 5 mins decided it wasn't for me. I went on a half day course on using Twitter for business years ago, the trainer was an airhead who had a media company and she said she would sit through Newsnight on BBC2 every evening tweeting. I sat in the class wondering why she was incapable of just sitting watching the news like everyone else

Re: Petition to change Swiss COVID-19 response?

One of the reasons I dislike it is at the time of Indyref in Scotland back in 2014, there were a lot of very evil tweets flying round and people were being really slagged off for not supporting Scottish independence to the point it was full on cyber bullying on the part of SNP supporters.

OH felt the same, he had a contract in Edinburgh at that point where he was working with someone who was a massive SNP supporter and activist and responsible for a lot of evil tweets going round. OH now only uses it for discussions on software development, but nothing else.

What I find quite fascinating with Twitter is that there are experts, politicians and famous people that sometimes chime into discussions or get in each others hair. That can be educational and/or entertaining.
You do realise that managing twitter accounts for experts, politicians and famous people is actually a job right?

My previous post was deleted . It seems I can't link to social media.

So without links: If you look at Jacqueline Fehrs Twitter discussion yesterday on Masks or anything that Nassim Nicholas Taleb or Donald Trump has ever posted, you will see that this is clearly them. If they are managed by professionals, they should be immediately fired (misunderstandings, firing up the wrong people, "covfefe") .

I know that there are a lot of accounts (mostly celebrities that don't interest me anyway) managed by PR people, but they are actually relatively easy to spot.

Please. If you want to talk about Twitter postings, celebrity or otherwise, do it on Twitter.
