| | Not good news for those in NE and VD [Covid] https://www.rtn.ch/rtn/Actualite/Reg...one-rouge.html
Appointment at dentist in France tomorrow, and was going to go shopping after. Not sure if I can go now?
A warning for those in Neuchâtel who have day off tomorrow and may be tempted to go shopping in France.

Ain was already red according to the French when the Swiss government announced the zones they consider to be red zones last week and yet they were exempt from the quarantine requirement.
They have made it pretty clear in their press releases that they won’t restrict the frontalier regions as Switzerland relies heavily on workers from France.
Worst case scenario I think will be that they restrict crossings to frontaliers like they did back in March but it’s not going to happen overnight.

Nothing as changed as BM has said. CH doesn't care at all about red zones in neighbouring countries, as they've stated before. Ain has been red for a while and not much has changed around here. Borders stay open, they've reconfirmed that. Only thing I've seen, living close to the border, is increased border checks of late, so don't go over your meat limit, etc.

The worst case scenario is if Ain and/or other Red neighbours close their shops. The flood of frontaliers will be doubled, at least.

Well, reporting back. Just been over for dental appointment and went on to do a big shop- no-one at either border. It seems a decision has not yet been made.
So we are supposed to go to the Menton region of SE France - which is also in red, fairly soon. Will we have to quarantine when we get back- and how on earth would they be able to police that?

| | | | | Yes you will have to quarantine as it is in one of the areas declared red by the Swiss government, unless things change between now and then.
You will have to report to your commune once you come back just as you would if you had returned from any of the ‘red list’ locations.
They rely on the integrity of people in declaring themselves once they return, I’m sure there are many people who don’t do it and they have no way of policing that. They can only check up on the people they know are supposed to be in quarantine.

I think the onus is on people to responsible. If you’ve travelled to a red area, including Ain you should wear a mask, maintain social distancing and avoid situations where you come into contact with strangers. That is both while you are away, and after you return.

So we will, BM, we are Law abiders- Will be travelling via St B and Turin- so there is no way they could trace us to our holiday location, but we will do as instructed.
One good point about this whole Covid disaster, is that we are getting fabulous deals and locations, via our UK Timeshare exchange, so might as well make the best of it.
