Mind you they never cared which way people voted, but they got really PO with people who did not make the effort to cast an informed vote.
So I play devils advocate at the dinner table in the weeks before the vote and challenge them to explain and defend the issues. In the hope that when the time comes they’ll cast an informed vote although I have no intention of asking them what way the went in the end. | | | | | Kudos to you for that.
I agree that you haven't really understood an issue until you've understood and given fair consideration to both sides of the argument.
An attitude that can sadly no longer be taken for granted these days.

I was once at the Manor cafeteria in Zurich and literally 30 something women came in full burka with even eye coverings during the span of my lunch. (Perhaps there was a tour group?) Luzern city center as well as here in Bern during the Summer you see many. | | | | | But if they are tourists this ban doesn't make any sense.
Imagine that some people come from really different places and perhaps this is their only chance to visit the "free world". I don't think we're able to change their culture this way, assuming we'd like to do such a thing.
Anyways....as with many SVP initiatives the purpose seem to stir some emotions up, not to actually solve anything.

I believe the argument is that we would be expected to follow their customs if we were to visit their arse backwards country. I can understand that argument, but what does it really achieve?
In the video I posted in an earlier comment, you will see the Iranian cleric telling the hijab-less woman to "go to the west" if she wants to be free. Hopefully when they visit, our ways will have a good influence...but forcing them to adapt won't make any difference and will perhaps only cause harm. They have enough of people telling them what they should and should not wear, we don't need to be an addition to that list.
My decision has been made, I will vote "No".

| | Re: Vote 7th March 2021 | Quote: | | | | | But quite a few of us do live here.
And we've discussed the votes of other cantons before.
How about discussing the one that says the police need to report the nationality of criminals.
I was expecting quite a few people would have something to weigh in on that. Might even be a certain logical overlap with the burka thing. | | | | | Well, in Rotherham, UK, most of the sex abuse of young girls - see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roth...tation_scandal - was by “Pakistani heritage” men - but the UK press frequently avoid mentioning that, because it doesn’t fit their happy “multikulti” fantasy... | This user would like to thank SponPlague for this useful post:

My husband still doesn't voluntarily participate in voting, but I help him out by doing all of the research and then we discuss the issues together. It is a nice way of doing it together | | | | | Congrats, my first vote too! | This user would like to thank SponPlague for this useful post:

Anyway, that would make you 800+ years old, and women can only vote since 50 years, so I call BULLSHIT!
Anyway, figuring 4x year plus voting for the communal crew every four years, I should be at 100 or just over.

Tom | | | | | Nothing so interesting in my life
I went through the citizenship process and eventually, a postman rang our doorbell with my papers and asked for 700 hundred odd Francs. So I called "her indoors" and said: "it is for you".

I even have to deal with her Heimatort for her!
Meanwhile, her ex-husband is a Vietnamese boat person! I think that she wins for most refugees in her family.
