Just had a discussion about Women Right with some Swiss Friends, who also do not understand how such an advanced Country in some aspects, can be so far behind in that matter (not rgrd Pension, but Voting, Kitas costs and the consequences, ect).

I believe that is being phased in.

How surprising.

Anyway, most countries in Europe have decided to increase pension age limit for both genders so this too was going to happen sooner or later. But here they can have tons of referendums for everything so I wonder if this is going to pass if people can decide (directly).

Statistically women live 8 years longer than men, so I suggest their retirement age should be raised to a round number, 70? I am joking, 65 is unfairly fair enough

Is it true that in Switzerland women earn on average 20% less for the same job as men? If true then Switzerland needs to sort it out!

There is an 8.1% salary gap which can not be explained by age/education level or trade.

Yep, if women were paid the same salary as men, problem solved (more CHF to finance AVS).

Right now: women make less money, hence they contribute less to AVS/II pillar, etc. resulting in even less money when they retire. So women lose on all three accounts and now the Confederation wants to reform the pension system by increasing AVS age for women ...

I wonder why it took that long since that's one of the most obvious inequalities between genders. What was the rationale between "allowing" women only to work until 63?
Don't get me wrong, efforts to lower those 8.1 % further must be continued, but that isn't the only problem.

Is the problem women negotiate their own salaries?
If I was running a business I would happily just employ women if my salary bill was 8% cheaper & the productivity was the same. I suspect there is more to it than headline no.
My wife was written up in Karren Brady's book 'Playing to Win', about female entrepreneurs, no reason why women can't earn more than men if thats their goal.

Yes, I've always wonder why anyone would every hire a man when they can get a woman to do the same job for less.

The usual: oh, she will get pregnant and take maternity leave, oh she will take sick days to take care of the kids, oh she will have her mind on the kids rather than on the job and so on and on and on

When I left the first company I worked for at 19, I set up in competition them. My boss commented he wished he had hired a girl as she would more likely have left to have kids rather than become competition.

If during the employment productivity per CHF/$/€/£ was on average higher with women, men would be out of work.

This is a country (my country, I might add) where men finally "allowed" women to vote like, yesterday ...

Switzerland is a man based country, much more so than other countries. General assumption is that "women should stay home", "raise kids", etc.

So no, I don't agree with women taking the toll this time. Again.

What I also don't get is that women are, in %, more on this planet than men. And, yet, patriarchy is very much alive. Bring on the amazons!

That's the same theory as everyone should become an entrepreneur. I understand your point but it's not a solution for everyone. Not everyone is a good negotiator or in a position to negotiate, for that we have unions and tariff systems.

It's a different story when people are in competitive or high-level jobs. For example, I would expect a managing director to be able to negotiate his/her own salary.
