Unnecessary, and needlessly rude.
Typical Talk to you later and don't make the mistake to call him out on that or add him to your ignore list because he'll feel very left out!

Moscow? Nice? I think it sucks. Ratio of nice green areas vs concrete deserts not to my liking.
I think you missed the joke.

The USSR facilitated nuclear weapons technology to China to counter USA, then USA facilitated trade with China to counter USSR, then China used nuclear power to counter USSR and trade to counter USA.....so, our tri-polar world is fun.

I guess the diplomatic thing to do is to talk with China, not about China

That did not go too well for Blinken and Sullivan last time (or the other side). Lavrov must have had a <s>popcorn</> sunflower seed moment.

you want juicy?

Must be the dastardly Genévois not wanting to feature Valser and the like. And no dinner, lest they have to make room for fine Valais wine or - gasp - these award-winning Zürichsee pinot noirs.
Seriously, whatever the geopolitical outcome or the local inconvenience, Geneva did well as a venue.

Of course diplomacy is generally preferable. But to say "a return" ignores aggression under Obama, e.g. the illegal and completely unwarranted war in Syria and "trivialities" like US meddling in Ukraine. The same applies of course to Barry's predecessors.

.
The US has unfortunately in my view had strong tendencies to act exterritorily on a lot of things in recent years and they should be reminded of the responsibility attached to being a superpower which has also has gone awry or unchecked too much as well. That being said, the go it alone policy of the last 4 years including the outright aggressions shown to your closest long-standing allies and refusal to work in tandem or plurilatérally on a host of issues has done more damage in my view.

Countries have no friends, only temporary allies, and all too often only for a given issue.
For most of the last 70 years or so I think there has always been strong transatlantic ties with the US and western Europe always seeing eye to eye and helping each other out and finding workable solutions on most things. The commonwealth countries and G7 are other examples of allies that generally work together in my view.

I think it's a grave oversight to claim that this is new with Trump. The implementation of FATCA by CH for instance was forced by pure blackmail, that happened long before Trump became POTUS. Blackmail directly removes any possibility of an eye-to-eye relationship.

As for the rest of Europe, you don't spy on Merkel's and other German top officials mobile phone if you see them as friends or equals. Nor do you work explicitly against e.g. the EU in Ukraine, as Victoria Nuland's " EU" during a taped telephone call (still available on YT) unmistakably showed.

Cooperate is what temporary allies do. Where it suits their interest, and only until they don't.

Thank you for your kind words.

Despite my status as a whinging pom, Geneva has welcomed me with a place to live, a good career, a son, citizenship for my daughters, a beautiful lake and so on.

Everyone has their heart somewhere, and Geneva is as far from a shit hole as one can get.

As God of Zurich, I can offer you a large house with a garden, a new job, a nicer lake and also cover your moving costs to ZH. New job too, match your current pay + 120k on top. All you have to do is present a signed confession that Geneva is a dump

As for the other flower on EF like Greenmount, it was a tongue in cheek comment. If I thought ZH was not a semi dump too, I would not be actively planning to move away from ZH into a goat shed up in the mountains

So they agreed to return ambassadors to their respective posts. Impressive.

I hope the stuff kept off the pressers and communiques is more juicy.
Oil is juicy

In their first meeting since he took office in January, Biden asked Putin how he would feel if a ransomware attack hit Russia's oil network, a pointed question making reference to the May shutdown of a pipeline that caused disruptions and panic-buying along the U.S. East Coast.
