Tessiner are the most ...

finally Tessin is recognized to have a tangible impact on swiss life&culture

https://www.blick.ch/auto/news_n_tre...d16617779.html

Of the many things they could copy from the southern neighbour, only the worst aspects ?

The article mentioned that they have the cheapest cars so maybe are more careless.

It could be as well, but wasn't mentioned, that quite busy thoroughfares in Ticino are narrow, winding and with many blind corners compared with the rest of Switzerland.

I guess the drive according to conditions concept is not possible to translate into Italian I expected a higher rate in cantons with a lot more snow and verglas.

Just waiting for the other Tom to chime in.
I would have expected higher rates in denser cities, which explains why Geneva and Zürich have higher rates.

My only experience of driving in Ticino were positive, as opposed to driving in Italy which is characterful.

Or it could be what they said in the article...

"Axa-Schadenexperte Fredy Egg äussert eine Vermutung zur erhöhten Unfallfrequenz: «Die vielen schmalen und unübersichtlichen Strassen im Tessin dürften die Fahrer vor besondere Herausforderungen stellen."

Axa claims expert Fredy Egg expresses an assumption about the increased accident frequency: "The many narrow and unclear roads in Ticino are likely to present drivers with particular challenges."

Well, I would have expected the "mountain cantons" to score worst. But GL, OW, NW, UR... are better that Zurich or Bern - as in canton, not the cities.

I think it must be because of all those bloody immigrants.

Sorry, didn't see that bit. At least I'm in agreement!

Everyday I see Astons, Ferarris, Porsches, Lambos, Maseratis, etc., so maybe on average cheap, but there ar lots of expensive ones as well.

Meanwhile, some years ago a cam across a head-on between a Smart and a Ferrari. The Ferrari lost that one big time, probably out for a test drive as it was 1km from the dealer.

They only cause accidents, they somehow magically appear less harmed though.

Re: Tessiner are the most ...

It seems that most of the roads I am on here are so jammed that, if you keep your distance, you should be fine! The biggest danger is the motorcyclists that drive up on the left in the jams. Funnily enough, I have found that people down here in Ticino are much more generous when it comes to letting people into a line of traffic than up North or letting the cross through the line over to the other side of the road. However, this is where the motorcyclists come into play: I have seen many cases in which a car has stopped to let someone in or across and a motorcyclist coming up on the left has narrowly avoided being hit...

As to the Italians who come over the border. They seem terrified by the thought of getting a Swiss speeding fine and all seem to do a constant speed of 50, whatever the speed limit!

Never had an accident, but they’ve seen hundreds in their rear view mirror.

BTDT (as a motorcyclist).

Did a 1/2 meter stoppie once!

Morons don't understand how precedence works here.
