Sad news. I grew up with some of her music.
Private Dancer is one of my all time favourites.

Just read it too and very emotional about it...
Also grew up with a lot of her music and my dad and I loved listening to her. Never ma aged to make it to a concert. Life is really too short.

So sad.
It might be silly, but each time I looked across the lake I was thinking about her and the thought brought me joy and made me smile.

Fifteen years ago, my friend was able to attend one of Oprah Winfrey's shows. Before the show, Oprah would talk to the audience and try to get to know a few of them. Oprah started talking to my friend.
Oprah: Where do you live?
Friend: In Switzerland
Oprah: Oh, I love Switzerland. One of my best friends lives there. You might know her. Her name is Tina. Tina Turner.
Here's an interview with Larry King on why she left the US and moved to Europe: https://edition.cnn.com/videos/enter...on-sot-vpx.cnn
RIP Tina

Tom | | | | | Nothing quite like a good beating, even in the afterlife?
Also, i'm don't understand why it's such a "devastating loss". She shone as brightly as she could and gave the world her best expression. What more could we want? We never lost anything. We had all of her.
Also, she was a Buddhist, so would have had a deep understanding that without death, there is no life. That death is the start of it. As a Buddhist, she would have been preparing herself for that very transition.
I'm happy for her, as a soul who agreed to be here to help walk others home, she is home. She finished her marathon.
We might see her back as another incarnation.

An interview with her from 2018, filmed here in Zurich, where she is talking about her life.
At one point, she is standing on her balcony, looking out, and says to the interviewer: "This is Zurich" (begins at :57).
Shine on, Miss Turner <3

I’ve been an absolute fan since decades - she has to be my favorite singer of all time. Have been to many, many of her concerts around Europe, including her last one in Zurich.
The most amazing one for me was on the way to the Florence region for a quick road trip to a WM match, just at the time of her come-back. She was playing on a pretty small stage in what can be termed a field (no seating). It was quite empty, and so I was about 2-3m away from her on the stage.
The other closest encounter was when we were both roller-blading around Greifensee at the same time, in opposite directions. You have to love a place like Switzerland where this is possible. It was a moment like, “oh, that was Tina Turner” . Another time, she was coming out of my local Migros.
My hairdresser since 30 years also did her hair for years (she sent her wigs to him).
That’s an amazing woman that worked hard, and I feel quite affected by her passing.
