Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday 26th 3am

Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday morning. Clocks 'Fall' back one hour, from 3am to 2am.

Extra time to eat breakfast, enjoy an extra loving hour or learn some grammar

I fear your last line might tempt Miss Sada to create yet a new thread in OT titled "What will you do with your extra hour on Sunday???!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

I've bumped this because it's true for this year too. Environmentally aware thread usage right here on The EF

Some do automatically . (phone, computer, iPad).
Then there are those that don't- the oven clock, clock in car....

That's not entirely true.

During the winter of 1976/1977 the clocks did not go back in October as usual on account of the Clockwatchers' strike. Daylight Saving Time continued for another twelve months until the autumn of 1977, allowing Swiss farmers the rare opportunity to enjoy late evening sunshine throughout the winter, spring and summer resulting in an unprecedented flood of milk, butter and cheese onto the market, resulting, finally, in the great Dairy Crash of 1978.

The economic devastation was so great that the Bundesrat had all the Clockwatchers shot and buried in a mass grave just outside Solothurn, a terrible act which was followed by the final abolition of the profession and the dissolution of the Guild of Clockwatchers, resulting in a slightly shorter Sechselauten parade ever since.

That's why Switzerland has to import all its clockwatchers from abroad now, hence the existence of the English Forum.

Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday 26th 3am

Maybe because the U.S. take the w/e nearest to the end of October, whereas Europe has the last w/e wholly in October.

Maybe something else.

See here:

In a nutshell, because the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act in 2005.

You lucky thing!!! For me it means getting woken up at 4:30 by the kids instead of 5:30. It seems that even when they´re in one of their good phases (waking after 6am), the clocks going back seem to coincide with a morning where they would naturally be waking up earlier... looking forward to this time that other parents seem to have where there children like to sleep :-D

Just wait until your kids hit their teens when you will have to wake them up.

The rooster next door clearly hasn't changed his clock.

The dogs are all awake now too.

So no extra hour of sleep here either.

Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday 26th 3am

My daughter had a sleepover here last night, not only did I lose my extra hour sleep, but I was well and truly wakened by 'whispering'.
Hoping I can fool her at bedtime though.
