Test your civic knowledge of Switzerland

Just like the title says, you can test your civic knowledge of Switzerland with 10 random questions at this site:

http://www.ch.ch/ebuku/index.html?lang=en

I failed miserably, but I think it's because I got the most difficult of the random questions.

Even if you don't feel like taking the quiz, it's worth it to spend a bit of time looking around the main site because it's "The Swiss Portal" and has lots of practical information about health insurance, education and research, work, unemployment, culture and media, the armed forces, etc., etc. And it's in English!

Maybe I got 30% right and by using just an intuition... Hmm, I liked Sada's "movie knowledge quiz" much better

Re: Test your civic knowledge of Switzerland

Loved the quiz!

I have been reading Le Temps almost every day for about a year, and was able to score 7 out of 10 on the French version of the quiz

It seems that I have learned something from all that reading (in addition to keeping my French from dying from disuse).

I got 5 out of 10, does that mean I can forget about applying for Swiss citizenship..?

Re: Test your civic knowledge of Switzerland

Congrats on being the high scorer thus far, RetiredInNH! Your comment about Le Temps makes me think that I really need to start reading a Swiss newspaper. At the moment, I'm still getting all of my news via the States.

I got 4 out of 10. Time to invest a little time in that "boring" stuff, just in case I some day have an appointment with die Schweizermacher.

4 out of 10 and I don't even live in Switzerland.

Actually, I only knew one definitely. The other three were inspired guesses

Re: Test your civic knowledge of Switzerland

If citizenship depended on getting a high score on this test, there would probably be a dramatic decline in the number of Swiss citizens. My Swiss husband only got 5 out of 10 correct. Yup, it's time to subscribe to a local paper.

On the other hand, I probably wouldn't pass the test for American citizenship either.

You can read most of Le Temps online for free. Much of it requires free registration, no big deal.

Funny that you, living in Switzerland, do not read the Swiss papers while I, living in the States, do. Maybe the fact that I am retired and have a lot of free time has something to do with it
