Ikea has slipped a little
Re: Switzerland's economy will shrink 2.2% this year

The report is revised every 3 months, and gets worse every time, but 2.2% is nothing compared to the western world. Who shrinks less? Spain? Hungary? UK? Scandinavia? Iceland

It is a bloody mess everywhere (except in Brazil apparently).

One can look at it in a negative way but one can look at it in this way:
If the economy shrinks by 2.2% it will be easier for it to grow in the following years (as the targets will be lower).

Are you sure about that? Considering that most chinese manufactured products are bought (or not bought as the case may be) by people living in countries that will be hard hit by the recession.

No one, not even the best economist, can know for sure. However, China has only one problem - cyclical economic downturn - rather than the two big problems in the US - banking and economic. China also has lots of cash to spend on their problems.

And according to most economists this is not enough to cover Chinas rising social problems as for example unemployment.

It is pretty obvious that a very developed country as Switzerland naturally grows less than an emerging country... here pretty much everyone has a car, TV and whatever else, so where should internal growth come from? Growing in exports is "a bit difficult" this year...
