Here, in Swissinfo today:

According to other news sources, the California appeals court rejected the bid outright yesterday, without issuing an opinion.

In the Daily Mail... (my understanding of "Queen's English" is much better than my French ... and I assumed the SwissInfo was in German)

Quote:
Swiss Justice Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said Polanski will only be extradited if he receives a sentence longer than six months.

it's true.... the french have another vision of justice and political power.
many independent french newspaper wrote that sarkozy acted as postman for Polanski. They also wrote that Obama did not read it. There is a blackout in France about this issue in the mass media (TV, radio etc..). Apparently Polanski wrote in his letter that the 47 days jail in US and the 6 months jail in Switzerland were enough to punish his mistake.

Thank you. As a father of daughters, this, unltimately, is the only thing any rational person should care about in this case, IMO.

What's the legal age of consent in France? If it's 16, as in the UK, then they haven't broken any laws.
Edit: it's actually 15.
Edit#2: OK, purchasing sex from someone under 18 is an offence in France.

Edit- Just saw your edit so I am back on.
