For once they are getting a taste of their own medicine....so they should be able to understand and be compassionate but somehow I think not.

ie. we cannot live up to our [international commitments] because [Congress] [the Administration] hasn't acted on it yet/given approval/is on recess bla bla bla...

[insert as you like]

there have always been a lot of one way streets in Washington, maybe some will be re-opened to two-way traffic.
